new guy looking for answers

I own a 95 accord ex that I purchased used about 4 years ago. The car is in pretty good shape except the tires were going bald so I decided that at this point since I cant afford a new car It was time to get a new look along with the tires. So...the guy in the tire store says why not upgrade to 17inch wheels? ok. I bought 17 in enkei RS5's and Yokohama 215 40 17 tires. I thought it was a nice improvement considering the old wheels were somewhat pitted. The handling is much more responsive now too.
These are my questions: Do my wheels suck? I found out after I bought them that they are kind of knock off's. Enkei produces them specifically for sale in the national chain where I bought them. Does this mean they are inferior or do I just look like an idiot? I paid about $135 per wheel. Next question, what about the tires? right size or should I have gone with 205 45 17? Last question, I am interested in other tasteful modifications...performance and exterior. Is there a book, magazine or other way to find out what some of these modifications are or should I just keep reading through posting forums etc.

any help you can give will be much appreciated.

sincerely,

ignorant new guy who wants a new car but will settle with a new look and feel.

First off, you have some nice wheels. Look at any import magazine to get some ideas. Also, search throughout this site. We have lots of accords here and I'm sure some of them can give you ideas....

OH yeah, welcome aboard and feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Check out my post at the bottom of this thread:

It should help you out with the basics to mod first. Any questions, just ask.

your rims should be very nice, Enkei is a quality name brand, on the performance and looks side of things check out like the others said import mags and your local performance shop...these guys here will steer you in the right direction.

thanks for the affirmation everyone. i feel much better about my choices. i have gotten in touch with a local shop and they were very helpful. in fact i plan to head in this week to go over intake options with them. they carry just about everything! thanks again. looking forward to becoming an active member of the group.

I'm glad you are happy with your chioces after all. Hey, if you don't want your rims, you can always give them to me :D

As far as choosing an intake goes, I really don't think there is too much of a chioce. I'd get the AEM CAI for sure. That's a slightly bias opinion, but I am very happy with mine, and so is every other person I've talked to who has one. If you don't want a CAI, check out their short ram designs. BTW, AEM has just released a new filter that is supposed to give 1-3 hp over the old design. They also have a sweet chrome intake instead of their old colors. Check them out.

Good luck!

you say AEM has a new filter system? you wouldnt happen to know what is called, or is it just an improvement over the old design? btw...how much horsepower do you think ill gain? 95 honda accord ex sedan VTEC. thanks.

I'll be honest, AEM can explain it better than I can, so check out http://www.aempower.com for info on the new filter. It is a 4 ply filter w/ AEM's name on it instead of the old K&N.
