135 AMP Alternator on a stock civic...?
Will adding a 135 amp alternator to a stock civic mess anything up?
well make sure you find out how many amps it puts out at idle.....
What do you mean? Are you worried that at idle it doesn't meet the 50 amps that the stock puts out idle, i'm sure it's ove rthat... did you have another thought?
well usually when upgrading a stock alternator, for sereos i should say, they put out more amperage at higher RPM's and less amperage then stock at idle.....
Good to know, i'll look into that.
what brand/model are you looking at?
maybe you might wanna look into getting your stock one rewound...
What i was looking to do was to either have my stock one rebuilt, or to buy one from someone who just rebuilds stock alternators and already has one done for a civic of my year.
I know that the 1990ish Legend alternator fits well in your car.. And can be spun to put out serious amperage.
most aftermarket alternators that have a higher peak output will also have a higher idle output, usually.
give this place a whirl, I have one and I know several people that have used an alternator from here, and they work great, for my car it went from 105A peak to 180A peak and 85A idle and has worked wonders for my car. The civic one is and goes from 75amps peak to 135 peak and 60amps idle http://www.4alterstart.com//pages/st...rproduct=civic |
put another alternator in your car  it's just a custom mount bracket. that's what i'm gonna do to keep the ps after my h22 swap
