A: Doh! you cant format your harddrive (the one with windows on it) while running windows! get your hands on a win98 startup disk or dos 6.2 (or other version) floppy. then boot your computer to the floppy and use the format command in dos to format the drive. then you can install windows again from the cd drive.

btw. that is a common thing to try... so dont feel stupid. i am not trying to belittle you. just trying to lend a hand.

A: i can follow that. i need to format the secondary drive, which is a replacement, and i'm trying to use the ntfs 5 format while 98 is fat32

A: you can play around with it but i think you will be happier staying with winders.
