Alot of them can... Handling has to do alot more then weight... A corvette for example can out handle a civic, and alot of other imports. Just using these as example I know it's not fair to compare them. And my car can out handle a civic too. Not sure what else havn't really looked into. and I havn't drove too many imports.

hmm. What are you gona put a big block in? (Big block over 400 cid right?)

crxb16hybrid 09-20-2002 10:23 AM

You got me there Im not much on motors when it comes to V8s But Ive always wanted to build a street rod with a big block....The only car I have ever owned that was a V8 was a 1964 impala ss with the 327 in it .....Now when the time comes I will do my research and decide on weather to build a big block or small block........Most kids I know that run V8s always tell me to build a big block if im gonna do it ....Who knows I might not even go that road next I might go ahead and build a nice rotary rocket....Dont know till I come to that fork....Right now my main priority is finishing my import......

fastasfoggy 09-20-2002 10:55 AM

i was just teasing abc...and one of the best handling cars is the bmw m3..rwd mind you...usually cars you can just stand on the throttle and turn isnt really racing...just standing on it sounds like it doenst take skill...m3 yum

abc 09-20-2002 11:02 AM

I've never drove a BMW, m3s are sweet, but cost way too much.

crxb16hybrid 09-20-2002 11:04 AM

Okay double clutching and down shiffting what ever it takes to make it sound like driving for you...lol my point being is MOST not all rear wheel drive cars cant get on it coming threw turns ....Im not trying to talk about what kind of skill is needed to drive in corners....Im just saying if you take a z28 for example and come into a cornner and punch it coming out your car most likely is gonna brake loose and youll end up spinnig around ....Just my personal exsperience...

Did you read the article back several months ago when SCC did the course test on the Mustang GT and the Integra TypeR? The mustang beat the TypeR in the little less curvey course, but the Type R won on the more curvey track (barely.)

Check the article out. Its called Unlikely Contenders II.

I know, I just thought it was a good article for the current discussion.. :D ;)

abc 09-20-2002 01:11 PM

I was thinking of getting a 94 or so Integra (not Type-R) more so as a winter car, and winter car when gas milage matters, like when the weather gets hot, and gas prices sky rocket. I live in NY so for the most part it don't get too hot. and Gas prices are usly stable, but not always at times i've seen upper $1.70s (93 octane) Any one know the min. octane rating for the GS-R? and how much boost can they handle stock?

crxb16hybrid 09-20-2002 01:12 PM

OH I know Im not tryin to be a dick or anything Im just saying that most rear wheel drive cars tend to loose it when coming out of the corners....I used to drive an 90 somthing mustang 5.0 my moms owned and every time I would come out of the corners I would loose it and it was an automattic .....I dont know I gess im just a crappy driver when it comes to rear whell cars...lmao

abc 09-20-2002 01:14 PM

Yeah ford just sucks.

crxb16hybrid 09-20-2002 01:17 PM

I definetlly agree on that Im more of a chevy kinda guy when it comes to Domestics.....

FORD=:pukey

CHEVY=:bow:

abc 09-20-2002 01:21 PM

Yeah I would rather push my chevy, then drive a ford.

crxb16hybrid 09-20-2002 01:25 PM

I would rather push my K swiss than drive a ford.....:D

fastasfoggy 09-20-2002 02:10 PM

i think i know what you mean crx...a friend of my brothers had a couple chevys that he bored out and all that...since i was driving an mr2 at the time i said just for fun...how does it handle? he just laughed and said if he turned to fast hed just spin around....

ford has made one of the best racer sports car of the century too..gt40? but thats just imo.

fastasfoggy 09-20-2002 02:11 PM

and that same kids dad had a grand sport corvette that im guessing could handle hehe

abc 09-20-2002 02:27 PM

yeah corvette handles good, but the car is over 53,000.. You get what you pay for. And also has the Z-51 package (Z06? option? dunno) and active handling. and lower ride hight then most cars.

crxb16hybrid 09-21-2002 10:47 AM

No matter what I still love my go cart of a honda....Its fun as hell to drive...

abc 09-21-2002 02:50 PM

I've drove a civic befor, I don't see what is so fun about it. Seemed like a basic compact car that my grandmother would drive. Altought my grandmother don't drive, i've seen people around her age drivin' one befor.

Well they are economy cars. What model/year did you drive?

abc 09-22-2002 11:18 AM

Yeah I understand their economy cars. Great gas milage and fairly cheap. But I hear in the TV, Radio and honda's site. "The fun to drive Civic", sence when are encomy cars "fun!" to drive? I rejoy drivin' but how is the civic set ahead of any other car in it's class, or any other for that matter..

The latest one I drove was a 1998 1.6 Single cam, single cam profile. sedan, I don't remember trim level.

Addict 09-22-2002 11:30 AM

I love driving my Civic. While the LX/DX models are all that perky, the Si is. I had an EX prior to this. This car is alot more fun to drive.

Guess its just all in preferences.......

abc 09-22-2002 11:35 AM

Is it a high-rev engine?

abc 09-22-2002 12:00 PM

Yeah I would call anything that peaks HP over 7 grand high. 6 & 5 grand mid and anything lower is low-rev and I would guess only in a truck/SUV.

boostedrs97 09-24-2002 12:29 PM

Hey!!! Wait a minute!!! I have the same powerplant as that neon, does that make me a neon? If so, then I guess I am a Mitsubishi Neon Eclipse RS-T?

Seriously though.. The NA eclipse motors, and the neon motors are indeed the same motor. The GSX/GST motors are different.

I dont think that it is v8killimports as much anymore since someone said he "wished your car would blow up with you in it" It's SVTCobra you have to watch out for...he gets off and talking shit about imports

you ***s just had to mention me... why?
did i upset you that much?

ford queers? mullets and chevys go together hand in hand.
you're car is a rattle box and is the whole craftmanship of the car is poorly done. i read that you said you have 275hp, obviously an LT1. i do have respect for F-bodies though, as ugly as sin as they are. some nice power out of that dinosaur of an engine, but i could never put myself in one. cant see over that hood. bucket backseats? who wants to sit in those? the big hump for the catalytic converter... the awful 80's interior. the list goes on. Trans-Am's have a lot more style and i would chose one over a camaro anyday. but itd be an LS1. LT1s just dont cut it. this ford queer and his little 281 would give your big bad 350 quite a run for your money.

Rob 09-26-2002 10:22 PM

well look at this...to V8s going after each other....:D

abc 09-26-2002 10:25 PM

Lol, I knew he'd reply. First off I don't have a mullet, and I live in NY, and never even seen one. And I was only ****ing around I don't have a problem with ford, my dad's first car was a 1966 Mustang Convertible, He got it in 1969, well befor I was born so i've never seen it. And my best friend drives a ford (Focus), lol. And I like trans-am, but just I just happin' to like the camaro more. And I like the 94 camaro more then the 94 trans am, and I'm not rich I can't afford a new camaro, else I would have one. And got my car cause I like it not to impress you or anyone else for that matter. And I would hope your car can beat me sence the only thing i've ever done to my car is clean it and drive it.

edited - spelling error

abc 09-26-2002 10:29 PM

And if I do anything I'll get a S/C LS1 or a LS6, yes you're right the LT1 aint shit, but it came with the car.

And the main thing that I liked about the car was the T tops, better then a sun roof anyday.

Rob 09-26-2002 10:29 PM

that's cool....haven't seen many conversations from him...in case I didn't get a chance to say it before, welcome to HS abc!

abc 09-26-2002 10:32 PM

Thanks i'm fairly new here. Mainly here to defend American cars, and make new friends maybe learn some things, and look at a shit load of ignorant people saying "My car is better! No my car is better!"

SVT Cobra 09-26-2002 10:33 PM

i like t-tops. just that they leak. the sun roof was on my car when i bought it. i used to have a 95 gt convertible.... yea the vert is nicest on a warm summer night... but thats about it. the sun roof is a lot better i think. t-tops would be awesome on my car

abc 09-26-2002 10:34 PM

I havn't had any problems with mine leaking, but I know the're known to leak, but I usly keep my car covered when I know it's gona rain. Convertibles are nice for a weekend But I wouldn't buy one, unless I had a spare car.

I'm sure you'll find a mix here of people that like and don't like American cars...I have no problem with any car...just some of the people that drive them....I'm partial to Hondas but I not going to sit here and bash American because of that....

oh, and I hope the only reason why you came here wasn't to get into pissing matches...I think we've already had our share of that...isn't that right SVT?

SVT Cobra 09-26-2002 10:48 PM

well enough for tonight. damn, its thirsty thursday and im home sick still. ive been sick for a week, so i have taken it out on hondas hahaha. goin to sleep, just took an oz. of nyquil.:pukey

abc 09-26-2002 10:51 PM

Well I'm not here for any one reason, and none of from are pissing matches. People like that V8importkiller or w/e his name is, is a perfect example of people I just can't stand, I havn't read any of SVT's threads, so I couldn't comment on that.

Ah ha, i've seen people like him IRL, like saying their ford is better cuase it's a ford?

ebpda9 09-26-2002 11:11 PM

pretty much

abc 09-26-2002 11:18 PM

Ok I've read somewhere in a post he said his car can do 0-60 in like 4 sec, but don't you think ford them selfs could do better?
and looks like he don't have any thing major besides the rear gears.
