Uhh no, you're smoking : Question 1-9: How fast does a stock LS1 run in the quarter mile? Answer: It all depends on the weather and the condition of your local track, however it's safe to say that any combination of LS1 will run better than 13.9. Some have run as quick as 13.0 to 13.1 without any mods, and GMHTP got a totally stock Z28 to run a 12.89 (in New Jersey in the winter though). Most owners will find that they run in the 13.5 to 13.7 range quite easily with a broken in car. It has been found that a fully broken in car will run a few tenths quicker than a fresh one right off the lot. You'll find the above on LS1.com Oh and the one's that are just soo fast and do run high 12's, have to be in the right conditions and more than likely have an engine thats stronger than normal, it seems that chevorlet's quality control is so good that 2 engines from the same assembly line can make totally different amounts of HP. And thus run 2 totally different 1/4 mile times. I'm not defending civicferio just don't tell me what i do and don't know. |
all i said was stock ls1's can run 12's in the 1/4. it's been recorded and debated for quite awhile. sure they average 13's and stuff, but i was just pointing out the fact that it doesn't take slicks to put them there. and btw, since we're talking about ls1's, c5 corvettes utilize the same engine with a body weighing about 400lbs less than a camaro. that should easily put ls1's in 12sec territories, but that's not what we're discussing so forget what i just said.
btw tdo4, no offense taken, it's just common sense and i figured it out...;) i would like to stress again how horrible those photochops look, take a look at the discoloration and the front bumper view of the fmic. look towards the bottom left of the bumper and the intercooler piping. you'll know what im talkin about. |
Yes corvettes do use the LS1 and the Z06 uses a variant of the LS1 called the LS6, different intake manifold, better cam, lighter weight engine components blah blah blah and makes 405hp and puts the corvette in the low 12's, high 11's the best american made car, well tied with the 1970 Chevelle with the 454 engine that was also called LS6, weird. Anyway I'm bored, I don't know if a turbo charged civic can make up 3 car legnths in 2nd gear, and my wife has had too much too drink. Peace.

That is right, we are not talking about a C5 Vette ok. I know those run 12's stock. This was a Firebird remember? I have looked at Motor Trend and there is NO F-body that they have tested that ran a 12 stock. Not the WS6 it ran a 13.5, and this guy was not in a WS6. Not the Z28 SS, it ran a 13.7 and of course he was not in that either. He was in the 305hp variant of the Firebird which here in Motor Trend I show runs a 13.9, ok it is a convertible but it is also the 6 speed.
Also to reiterate what I already said, when I said I expected high 13's I also stated clearly that I had not run at the track yet. People who have ridden in my car think that it will run low 13's on slicks. |
