I have to save pretty much every penny that i am making right now. But i badly need new CV Joints (i'm like 85% sure that's what's wrong) and i really need a new clutch (i know..i know) And i work at GM so i could probably get some of the guys to give me a hand and do it by myself (that cuts out alot of labour costs) So i wanna know, how hard would it be to do that with a mechanic at hand...or should i got to Honda and get it done instead..and also..how much would all that cost appx in cdn dollars? :paranoid:

Its around $300+ US to get a clutch installed into an Accord from Honda. Why not just pay a GM mechanic to do it on the side? It'll be cheaper.

That's sorta what my plan is...I'm gonna ask my boss if i can come in on saturday when its slow and get one of the guys to gimme a hand. Then hopefully i can just get him a case a beer or bottle or whiskey and we'll be good......;)

thats the kinda thing i do at work with my biking problems that i can't fix. But for the fun of it i come in on my day off and cut the line and get it fixed while all the customers watch with their mouths open.

CV joints are simple.. a clutch isnt bad with tey right tools and a mechanics workshop(lift, air, ect) jsut time consuming. i can change an axle now in about 30 mins. if you want to check if thats the problem, look inder the car at the axle boot, if its ripped open, you nailed it no doubt, if it looks kinda like dried or cracked rubber, most likely it. they can go bad without the boot messing up, but its not as common. is your car lowered? do you ever do burnout with the wheels turned? those are real quick ways to rip up a FWD axle boot

shit i better stop doing them burnouts with the wheel turned. I've done it twice and i guess i wont do it agian. btw why is it so bad sideways?

because the boots are stretched more.. theres more involved with the tranny and how the axles sit when your turned, but thats basicaly the reason why

axles are pretty fast to change. the only biatch about it is getting the balljoints out. i still couldn't figure out how to without ripping the hell out of the boots;)

OK..i think that's my problem ..."spinning the tires with the wheels turned" i did that a few too many times..some even by accident..so do i need a whole new cv axel or just the cv joint or what?
