Ignition Switch [Archive]

On the 1998 Honda Civic LX, I sometimes have problems releasing the key from the ignition. It's happened a couple times, and I can't push the key in. Has anybody experienced this? I saw this on the service bulletin also.

My moms Lincoln has the same problem...sorry it dont help and not really related cause you know its a different car and all...so yeah...at least your not alone...youve got my mom to acompany you through your ignition problem :)

sometimes mine does that too, and i have no clue on how to fix it.

I experienced it too!! But I found what my problem was....I was still in D4 when I tried to turn off the engine and tried to pull my keys out...suppose to be in Parking gear..hehe -.-

This is a defect. It's TSB #97-009, Ignition Switch - Key Cannot Be Removed:

Contact your Honda dealer for a fix...
