View Full Version : Tired of People Wanting to Race Me.
Seriously...I can't even go to Wal-Mart without someone wanting to race me around here...I went to Sonic tonight to pick up something to eat and this guy in a unmodded Prelude pulled up next to me at the light and revved on me....I was like
Just ignore them...eventually word will go around that you just don't want to race..

When people rev their engines at me, I tell them, " Pull over, I need to tak to you"...sometimes they do, and when they do, I drive off. They must feel like total assholes. When they don't, I yell at them. I say sh!t like, "Que te pasa, te pica el culo?" Translated-> "Whats the matter, your ass itches?" If your not the type of person to say sh!t to others, A simple Fckyou finger will do the trick.
Doing this might cause a fight or road rage, but at least they wont try to race you any more.

ive missed 4th gear before too.... cost me $1200 anyways, i dont even bother with street racing anymore. i know what my car can and cant do, and i wont waist my gas on 90% of the cars i see, and theres about 2 or 3% i will, the other 8% can beat me.

I know this is gonna sound stupid but how do you know when you do damage from a miss shift?? I was worried as shit last night because I was pretty close to redline when I went to shift into 4th and missed it but I drove around for 15 minutes after that and everything seemed fine

ok.... i had this great idea of chirping 4th gear because i was squeeling 3rd, so i get on this back road, and just take off.... 2nd i smoked, 3rd i squeeled pretty bad, at about 90-95mph(top of 3rd gear) i go to slam it into 4th as fast as possible to keep rpms up, and stay well in my power band, well.... i throw it in A gear and dump the clutch, clutch bit wonderfully, shot my tach well above 11000rpms(our estimates are about 12500rpms), i emediatly realized i just grabed 2nd gear, and put the car in neutral(didnt stall supprisingly) then 5th gear, crused to the end of the road, where i soon realized i had NO... and i mean NO low end power. valves sounded like a.... well, alot of badness, i drove to the mechanics(hey, car was still running) and droped it off. well this was a friday afternoon, so they didnt get a chance to rip into it untill monday. well... 9 retainer bolts backed off, came off, 6 stayed in the head somewhere, 3 fell through my main oil line down to the oil pan, well thats what the hoped, only 2 went down. one "chilled" somewhere between the valve and the oilpan. they ripped apart the engine, found it, reassembled everything, couldnt get the car running right cause the dumbasses didnt understand the concept behind adjustable cam gears, then finaly got everything hooked up, and it was running perfect. i now think its not running perfect, but its been 8 months, and well.... i cant really prove it was something they did. what pissed me off about the whole thing, was they quoted me 400, then they needed a new timing belt tensioner, so it was upto 600, i said ok, then one of the valve guides was supposably messed up, tacked on more money, then they kept having little problems here and there that added upto 1200. if they would have said 1200 from the get go, i would have bought a JDM longblock, or a built head. so yeah... i missed 4th gear and it cost me $1200

i guess i was lucky no pistons or sleeves were damaged though, but if it was that, i would have jsut bought a new engine, and probobly been happyer with my car now than i am
ouch...o.k., I gotta head out to a lunch so I'm gonna check to make sure my low end power is still there....I guess I'll let ya know if it isn't....so the car would still run o.k. but without the power, right?

if you didnt get it in the wrong gear forcing your rpms way above your electronicly controlled redline, you will most likly be fine. remeber, 12500rpms my ignition and fuel is cut from the engine(actualy at 7700rpms is when it really stops) but the speed of the car, and since my clutch can apparently hold that much power it shot my rpms that high. oh, and for those wondering, the retainer bolts are what holds the valves in place, so i had 9 out of my 16 valves kinda flopping around in my head at 100mph  rob, you should be fine, its like bouncing the rev limiter when revving to high, honda sets its rev limiters about 3-400rpms lower than whats safe for the engine, so you cant even get upto the point of valve float and crank walking. also my a/f gauge PINNED rich even at idle where it usualy will hold decetly lean. my friend was driving behind me and said it smelt like i was just dumping gas out. if you can turn your car on and not hear *click* *click**click**click**click**click**click**click** click**click**click**click**click**click* x elevinty billion like you are 1,000,000 miles overdue on a valve adjustment, your valves are more than likely fine.
o.k....I just took my car out and played with it a little bit...needless to say my low end is still there and there aren't any click click sounds so I'm good....thanks Chris!
