My folks want to see me goto some high ranked university in hopes that my gift in business will shine through and Ill go off into the world equiped to live a great life.
Then there's reality, my marks in highschool are no where near where they need to be.
maybe this was a rant

Rob...you need to do what is going to make you happy. You don't need to go to some big name, high dollar university to get a quality education. Actually you're more likely to get a more hands on eduaction at a smaller school. Ever think about doin what you wanna do rather than what everyone else wants you to do? You're parents will love you no matter what you do. They just want you to be happy and use your potential.
No...it's true...
the only thing it can't bring is happiness and love..
It can let you go anywhere...do practically anything. It does fix anything.

lol no it doesn't. I can name 1000 things it doesn't fix. For example.. I am having to compete for a pilot slot in the Air Force.. will money help me at all? Nope. Why in the world would you think money fixes everything?
ok...if it's something you want to do...that can go under the happiness category...
If it's something that you have to do for work so you can MAKE money...then if you had money, you wouldn't need to do it.

the only thing you can buy in life are material items. you can't buy health, you can't buy a family you can't buy anything truly worth keeping. money solves nothing it only creates more problems
Rob....I honestly wouldn't worry about it if I were you....you seem like a very intelligent guy and I think that you will succeed at whatever you put your mind too....just my $0.03...

Rob until recently I felt the same way. I figured my intelligence woudl get me somewhere, but it appears as though its all about the marks and thepeople who can get the marks get into Uni even though they might suck in the real world of business they still end up with the MBAs

I know what you mean...I still don't have my college decree...that's why I joined the AF...but seriously, you might have to work a little harder to get where you're going but I think that you will still end up where you want to go. Just out of curiousity, what career field/type are you looking to get into??

Well guys Im a senior in HS and going to the University of Alabama next year... aiming high for an MBA and dual bachelors in Finance and Economics... I could get into a better college with my grades and good standardized test scores, but Alabama just fits me better. All colleges are what you want them to be... you can go to Harvard, flunk out, and learn less than if you went to Southwestern-Illinois Community College... just go where you are comfy and everything will work out

Right now it seems as though I'm good as an in between for techy people who dont know how to talk with regular business people. Maybe something in the area of IT management, because I appear to have great people skills and an ablitity to break complex things down into laymans terms.
Or
Running my own business, which i have alot of hands on experience from working for 3 small business; two of which i work for currently. I have worked for one of them for over 3 years now.
Seems like you're on the right path...just stick with your goals and you'll do fine...maybe we can open a business together...Rob & Rob's Place...I have no idea what the business would be though

lol sounds like a plan dude. But what path do you think i'm on right now? I'm not doing well in school and the likihood is I wont get into my first 2 choices of university.
SOunds like you're feeling sorry for yourself...
If you want to get into a good college...just study a lot more and make better grades. Or you can just do with what you've got.
Either way...everything will turn out fine.

well...you're what 18? 19? and you already pretty much know what you want to do with yourself...I'm 27 and I still don't know what I want to do...my enlistment in the AF is up in Mar '04 and I really don't want to re-enlist but at the same time I don't know what I want to do if I get out. I only have an AA so I really don't think that I'm that competetive in the market...as long as you set a goal for yourself and stick to it, you'll be o.k.....o.k. so your grades aren't the greatest right now but that really doesn't mean anything. I have friends that did sh!tty in high school and now they have like 3.8 or 4.0 averages in college...it's all in your mind set and what you set yourself to do. If you want something bad enough and you put yourself into it, then you'll get where you want to go in the end....
