I went out to testdrive a new 2003 just for fun.. Got on it a number of times.. it does run quick, but it's missing that seat of the pants acceleration. Kinda a boring car that's fast. It is fast, but not worth the $43,000 they want for it. Anyone else driven one?

to be honest that doesn't really suprise me, i think the older mustangs have always been nicer. Seems to me they are taking away from that line of car.

Well it was fast as hell.. not like mine, and missing that feeling of acceleration.. I was up to 80 in no time, but it didn't feel like it at all. I enjoyed the audi TT much more. Felt more in my butt.

I wonder why that is, suspenion or tq related?

The 2003 cobras are the fastest ever build... faster than the R as well.. not including the Saleen though..

I dunno.. it definately will handle better than the mustang being a quattro, but it was just more fun... Convertable too... Convertable Cobra was $7000 more... the salesman was also full of crap too.. didn't know what he was talking about. A real difference between the Audi and the stang dealer...

The feel of the car is important. Its fun to feel like you're going fast when you get on it. I'll have to go on a test drive spree someday. :D

I am gonna try for the viper next weekend... already has 4000 or so miles on it so another 10 or so wouldn't hurt.. man I wish I could rent them or take them to the track or something though...

what i've noticed on vtec motors is that they just pull hard through all the rmps, i wouldn't say i noticed a hit of power when it crosses over just it keeps pulling strong.

1) i dont know what Ford SVT dealership you went to, but over here "No one is allowed to test drive the 03 Cobra."
2) it is a supercharged v8 with a T-56 transmission + a warranty.
3) They run mid to highs 12's bone stock.
4) you can get them at sticker price. you just have to look around.
people have gotten 03 cobra's for $35,000.
5) A $200 mod (lightning pulley) gets you 11's.
6) I really don't think the audi TT could really out handle the cobra as much as you say it can. yeah it is AWD, but its also very very slow compared to the cobra. the 03 does handle very well.
7) i have been for a ride in one. you definitly get thrown back in the seat.

Yes the Cobra is much faster.. I have seen the numbers and believe them. I also drove both the Audi and the Cobra, and liked the Audi much better. Both my friend and I dorve it, and I still didn't feel that butt in the seat acceleration. I know we were hauling because we got up to 80 like it was nothing... just didn't feel like it. Yes the cobra handled very well, but would not compare to the Audi.

Like I said earlier, the price was about $35000, but there was some market mark up crap for almost $7000-8000 putting it over $40,000. Even still, I would still buy the Audi over the cobra.

And test driving it was not difficult at all. I played the typical "I am in the military" thing and test drove it. Actually they offered to let me test drive it before I even asked. I have driven better.. Cobra is no slouch, but not a Ferarri or anything.
