View Full Version : Tranny "5SPeed Just got im sorta just learning please help

im so mad, i just bough a 99honda civic wiht only like 35miles on it

im from canada so like 64thosand km which is like 40miles or something..


anyway i cant drive the best i grind sometimes when im racing,,


i feel like im gonna ruin my engine or clutch or tranny im scared cause i just invested 4thosand into stereo and 2thosand into cosmestics stuff, my insurance and car payment a month is more then i can afford already let alone something break,,

how lond do trannes last hopefully soon ill stop grinding just sometimes i shift ****ed up like cause im not paying as much attention , ill treat it good from now on . i think its a mental problem i think its harder to shift into a gear now but i think just cause i had a dream my tranny ****ed up cause i grinded that night.

Yup, I say drive sanely always, or at least until you can figure out how to drive a stick.

Just take it slow...dont try and force the gears...

the more you drive the more comfortable you will be
why invest so much money into something just to ruin it...
I don't understand people sometimes

I mean I know burning out ruins tires and clutch and a few other things and were all guilty of that but we don't all burn out every time we move ya know....

learn to crawl before you can walk then you can run ;)

You'll kill that tranny in no time if you keep it up. Relax and learn to drive it first.

Well, I had to change out my tranny not too long ago. It started grinding at higher RPM's, and I knew it was shot after that. If your gonna race, which I don't recommend, learn to drive the car and master shifting before you race. If you are not good at shifting slowly, why try to shift fast? Don't kill the car bro, cause if your like most of us, then you only have one of them.

If you can't drive the car you'll kill the tranny in a few months. STOP RACING! Make sure your clutch is fully engaged when you change gears and don'r ride the clutch when you accelerate. Aggresive down shifting will murda your clutch and tranny. Take it from me I'm on my second tranny and third clutch. ( 85mph in 3rd in a dx will do that.) If you really wanna take care of your ride don't race it......at least until mastered shifting.
