ok I was wasting time and watching monday night football when I came across an ebay auction for building your own vtec controller. Anyone ever heard of doing this? They say it costs around $80 to build one...seems like a load of shit to me, like you could build one thats actually reliable. :D Tell me if Im wrong.

lol... BS. Oh, if you want to hear a funny one.. get this!! I'm flipping through Super Street today and I see an ad for a company that makes turbo sounding speakers. From what I read, it's speakers that go on the outside on your car and it makes the blow off sound at 5,000 rpms. WTF? They are selling them for $80... I think THAT has gone 2 far!!

theres no reason you couldn't build your own vtec controller.

there are only 4 things that the computer checks before activating vtec all you have to do is find out what's being sent to the computer and simulate it at the rpm you want (lie to the computer).

whether or not the person behind the ebay posts has done this and is selling the proper instructions is another thing.

P.S. im gunna get around to doing so eventually so... when i do i'll post the plans for free:)

also even if the plans are good and the unit works it almost definatly requires difficult soldering so... if you don't feel comfortable soldering then don't even bother.

very true right there. but even if you went out and bought a apexi one there is still some connections to be made that could be a pain in the ass. (At least I assume so, Ive never done it obviously nor have I even seen one in real life, just pics you know)

You know what's funny though about the whole "fake" turbo... After I posted last night about it I started thinking to myself that in the last few months I've been noticing that a lot of the cars in my area have got turbos (hearing the blow off valves). Hell, last week sometime I pulled up to a Si at a light. I wasn't going to race, but he kept on looking over like he was going to try.. Any who, the light turn green and he takes off.. I had my window cracked and heard the blow off valve as he inched his way passed me. I remember thinking to myself that they poor guy needs to tune his crap right because no joke I could hear he was TRYING to gun it and like I said.. it was just inching pass me. So, lol, I don't know ... maybe people really are buying this fake blow off valve crap.
