View Full Version : Liscence Plate Neons
I have two new liscense plate neons for under the seat of my car. Come to find out that the wires provided were to short. Also, I'm going to wire them to the headlights, so where's the best place to bring them through the interior to the engine?

you don't eed to goto the engine to get the headlight wires.... they are in the dash at the parking light switch... use a relay ;]

you might want to put a switch on them so they are not always on when you have your lights on....
I have two neons, and I went to see some switches at RadioShack. I saw a couple of different switches, but how many prongs on the back do I need. I think 4, but I'm not sure.

Just a basic 12V DC switch will do it.
You'll be wiring the 2 neons in series, so you only need the 2 prong version. Unless you want it lighted, then a lighted 3 prong will do it.

Here I made a picture of one way you could do it. Granted I didn't include an inline fuse but you should or wire directly to fuse box. SPST Is the kind of switch you probably are going to use. Its the simplest type, and goes for like a buck at menards. Those light up ones I don't know how they work but its prolly just an extra wire going to 12v source. Mount your stuff first, then wire it up.
