whats better?

What engine is better suited for the civic? B18C or the H22a? I know the H22a will take more to work in the civic and I assume thats why it costs less (in most places) than the B18c which basically drops right in. The B18 is OBDII if im not mistaken where the H22a is OBDI. So which one is better?

Better suited would be a B series for everyday driving, but....

You didn't tell us your goal: drag car, track car, etc.

you can get the h22 with OBDII, you'll have to, inorder to keep the swap legal

it was more of a general wondering, since my car is a daily driver the b would be best then. but if the h22a is so coveted why are they less than the B18c?

installation on the H22 is more I believe. Also, you might have to lose the A/C and P/S, but I'm not sure about that either. Bascially, the H22 is great for a drag car.

the civic chassis is not designed (or really capable) of distributing power from the H series engines to the road in a safe manner. If you do a little research on the web you will see that it requires "crimping" or "denting" parts of your car in order to fit the engine and once it does fit the power distribution is all screwy. most reputable places will tell you straight out that if you put a H series in a car designed for a D or B series engine it had better be an OFF ROAD ONLY car.

This is just what i have read so if someone out there actually has a H series in a civic/integra and there are none of these issues let us know.

H22 in a civic works just fine for a daily driver. the header hangs a little low but just drive a little more carefully and dont skimp on beefing up your suspension and getting custom axles.
its not a wonderful autoXer, but it can hold its own on the drag course and the roadrace course as long as you spend the money to do things right.

but as i said, its not bad for a daily driver. and installation usually runs in the range of $1000 as where a b series swap is about $500.
and you can keep AC.
