Cost for replacement of Water Pump?

Hi guys,

My 91 accord's water pump broke recently. I took it to a shop and they told me it would be $350 to replace the water pump, including the labor price. Is this price too expensive? Please let me know ASAP guys!:o

Seems a tad bit high..

The thing is that it is in a very deep cavity of the engine.. Usually its done at the same time as the timing belt.. And for both its around that much.. But they're usually close to each other..

yup, the price is abput right. to have that thing replaced they have to lower the engine out of the car(at least for the driver's side, remove the timing covers, remove the belts and then remove the water pump. it's not as easy as on other cars.

thanks guys. i guess i forgot to mention that he said the labor price would include taking off my timing belt and stuff. but the question that interests me was my car wasn't overheating? and it wasn't leaking any water? i don't know, time to go back to the shop and see what's up. thanks for the help guys.

btw, the car seems to be having problms, maybe cuz of its old age. Would you guys recomend just selling it for what it's worth now with 156000 miles and buying another new/used car?

If you have the money to get a somewhat new car, then you should go for it..

Your car has served over 10 years, and it has probably done so without giving you too much trouble..

In my humble opinion, its time to move on..

Unless, your as stupid as I am and you want to keep your car, as a collection item for the rest of your life.. Though is going to be quiet expensive. My ride is a 97, and by 2007 I should be getting a new car (I would have just finished University)..

1 Year agom, I started a thread asking who want to keep their cars "forever".. And it seemed I was the only dumbell who wanted to do this.. I hope I have the ressources to do it.. It would be such a wonderful thing.

Imagine, you only take it out during the summer and you keep it in mint condition.. In 20-30 years, when you drive that car, people will be like hey check out that antique car.. But for me this will always be my baby.. Even when I get the WRX (or whatever else).. LOL, a Mercedes for a daily driver and a 97 Accord for a summer fun car.. thats messed up..

well if i'm not keeping this accord, i'm gonna have a hondah just in case, and a subaru. the other can be an M3 or M5. don't need anything more.

the water pump runs off the timing belt, the reason labors so high is they have to re-time your engine, and since it sounds complicating.. they over charge
