well... ive been playing guitar on and off for about 6 years now, and i think im due for a new guitar. mines kinda a mid grade guitar, its good, but nohting special. peavy preditor, top 2 pickups are fenders, bottom is a shadow single coil sized humbucker, one peice maple neck... anyways not important... my question is though, what are some nice guitars to look into? ive always loved the look of a gibson less paul, but its kinda pricey. a fender seems pretty nice too. what are some good electrics that play real nice and arnt gonna kill my wallet? i wana stay under a grand if all possible. i want a nice deep warm chorus sound and still be able to switch to a nice lead hard sound if i need it.

wow, seeing this topic on the board brings back a lot of memories.

well, i was a band member years back when most of you are probably still in grade school then. i played in high school and a few clubs and almost flew to japan at the age of 16 with my group but we broke up. if you are all about the heavy metal days then you should know what i'm talking about........GnR, Skid Row, Poison, Warrant, Cinderella, Whitesnake, etc. then i got bored and started playing Slayer, ol' skool Metallica, Megadeth, Death Angel, blah blah blah....... anyway, i played guitar almost half of my life but i suddenly lost interest when "grunge" music came out (the end of the "hair bands"). it's not because i didnt like "grunge". i just got into techno and funky break music.

You can never be wrong with a Gibson Les Paul or Fender Stratocaster or Telecaster. shiet, even the imitation from Mexico sounds good. You can always pick-up a Charvel, Jackson, or Washburn for less than $700 with double locking tremolo bars. peace!

how do the epaphone les pauls sound? im really liking the les paul style, and i love how its real heavy. i played a texas limited strat... omg.. if it wasnt $1400 it would have been mine

i played a jackson and i jsut wasnt too happy with the way it played, and i really didnt like their style necks for some reason.

there was a 79 les paul classic on ebay i almost won.... man that would have been sweet, i had it up untill the last hour at 350 bucks! then i went to class, came home and i lost

dude, you dont want a tele- im sure you dont want that sound, a strat(if you get the rigth one) is gonna get a reall bassy deep sound to it all over the board....
BUt you want a real nice guitar, look into PRS; they have a bunch of different models rangin from about $600-3k... The more expensive ones are all had made so you price area your goin for is a Santana SE model...suprisingly good sound for $600-700, get a great crunch and clean from it...I advise you to check one of those out ASAP.

tele is not that bad. it really depends on the type of music you play anyway, not to mention the gadgetry available on sound technology now...... it's like buying a mod for your ride:D
