You'll find that this board doesn't really flame anyone. We may debate the heck out of topic, but seldom flame.
Welcome.
How come you won't tell us what you have?

Im a "debadged" RS model, with mods. Hopefully by this time next year if everything falls in place, as it should, I should be stage II or III Turbo. But yes, for the time being I am nonturbo. Doh! ::yes::

How much do you plan on pushing?
& are your internals built, or will you run the turbo on oem insides?
KaptainMike

Hmmm.....
lets see here. Stage II is only from the turbo and the intercooler and piping itself.
BUT if I go stage III, that includes forged pistons, rods, etc....so my goal is to do it right the FIRST time and get stage III. Possibly controlled by a S-AFC or DFI. I am still undecided as to the engine management system. But I got plenty of time to decide, as you can tell. But yesh, I definitely want built internals at least. When I have to replace my clutch I will go with a lightened flywheel and stage III CM clutch, possibly a drag tranny....but your looking at MAJOR money then....so I hope that clutch lasts!
Keep in mind stage II runs from 5-8 psi max SAFELY on stock internals...which is a nice jump from stock 140 HP to a whapping 300ish HP....almost double.
Stage III could probably run 8-14PSI safely for a DSM. We have peeps on the 2gnt board running 15psi all day...pullin 13s easy. Oh well, one can dream! ;)

If your serious about it then wait for the stage III you will probably have a much more reliable system with killer amounts of power. Dont forget about all your fuel and ignition too though..

racing rice, u saying u'd take a GSX with a turbo kit? hmmm... seen SI with 8psi run mid 14s? i haf. gsx isn't a car to take lightly... no dissin on u but i know plenty of DSMs... and gsx are not to be messed wid from stop lite to stop lite... 1.7 60ft times are not hard to do in a gsx... freeway battling with a lightly modded gsx (i/bov/e/mbc) you'll have a chance with a turbo kit. btw, what turbo kits are good for civics?

Hes got a pretty much stock GSX that runs 14.90 so if I have a turbo on my car I could very well beat him in the 1/4 mile.. Now if he did a little work to it I wouldnt stand a chance..The AWD is the BIG upside!
Turbo kits for the Civic all depend on what you are looking for.. If you want a good setup but dont want to go over about 15 lbs of boost your best bet would be the Greddy kit. Its street legal, and the base kit w/o IC will only set me back about $1500, Ive seen people run high 14s with this kit at about 7lbs of boost in a SOHC 1.6...
But if you want to get alot more power youd obviously would want to go with a bigger Turbo like the FMAX kit, Drag Kit, Revhard kit to name a few..
The down side to having a SOHC 1.6 is they only hold about 8-9psi safely on stock internals..So you know what that means..

yeah... i heard that... our car's internals are good up to about 12psi before rings go bye-bye... my friend dynoed his car with t3/t4 star stage 2 BB e trim and got 239whp... not bad for 9psi.
i like those greddy turbo kits... the exhaust manifold is really good and street legality esp in cali rocks. what mods do you have now?

12 psi thats it.. I thought stock DSM internals could hold more then that.. Im probably wrong though..I know several people that are running around 14-16 on stock internals but a lot of that is probably tuning and the condition of the motor before bumping boost up, and a matter of time before they kill there stockers..
The Greddy kit rocks man.. Being street legal really gives it the edge these days esp. for the folks in Cali and place that are strick like that.
I dont have much done to my car right now. Just the normal stuff like AEM CAI,Brospeed header and axle back dragger style muffler (dont remember the name of the company something like Top Secret, I got it from Landspeed Racing), suspension work, plug wires, short shifter... I have and exedy clutch and AEM Cam gear sitting at home waiting for me to get off my lazy butt and install them.
I was going to get a Turbo this winter but got engaged instead.. So Im hoping sometime next year going with the Greddy kit.

Hey man stop editing your post.. *L*
Yeah you cant beat it but you still have to buy an IC before turning up the boost.. (but there are cheap ways around that..)
Thats the advantages of a SOHC civic.. then we can get into the disadvantages but I dont feel like typing that much..;)

haha... dsm internals ARE hella strong... i have the 420a nonturbo motor... the 4g63 1G and 2G motors run 11s on stock bottom end.. i.e. 23psi or near abouts...
werd.. 14psi is too much imo even with tuning... do it right the first time... another 420A i know runs trap times of 108mph with 12psi on a t3/t4... that is with internals of course down to 8.8:1 CR... i wished there was a good shop here in bay area to do internals for me... but it's honda HQ here
