Yup so i had to go to court for going 87 in a 55, and the trooper was trying to help me out (i already had 8 points on my liscence), so he was going to make it a 2 point violation (too good to be true). Anyway so i go in front of the judge, and he gets all pissed saying "NO, NO I'M NOT ACCEPTING THIS, NO!!", so then he finally accepts a 65 in a 55 deal, but its 3 points and WHOOPS my liscence will get suspended.. anybody have this happen to them? i don't even know how long it will be suspended for...

trooper could have really helped you out and not shown up... oh well. good luck with whatever you can salvage out of this. but 3 points for 10 over sounds kinda harsh

Hmm... I don't know how screwed you are. My friend tried to ditch a cop and got caught. I think he only lost his license for 6 mo.

If possible, I would have just peeled off.

Did it twice (once in my car and once in a REGAL GS), and I'd do it again.

i dunno about the state your in but in indiana it got raised to 18 last year. i currently have 14 and still have my liscence. The only problem i have is insurance 2450 a year with a muilti car discount. it hurts. also in indiana if you get more than 2 tickets a year you have to take the defensive driving calss, ive taken the class 4 times..... who told your liscence was suspended? because when i got my last ticket the cop told me hes glad ill be off the road because my liscence is getting suspended when it wasn't even a fair ticket... but a lot of cops don't know little laws like that, so when i called to see how long my liscence would be suspended for she said it won't and thw points have been raised to 18 and i have to take a class.

here in NY its 11 points, i dont' know what the rest of the world is doing... i know its being suspended becuase the judge said to me "you realize your liscence will be suspended"

anyway i also did try to outrun a cop, but i made a wrong turn and he got me, but then he just told me what i did wrong when trying to ditch him , he was cool

Anybody know where to find out the points system in your state? I have a few tickets and don't have a clue how many points I have or what the limit is. Also, when you get tickets out of state, do they still accumulate on your license as per your home state's system?

you can get your record for 30 from a credit report agency. also the out of state points it all depends if your home state regognizes the traffic rules of the state you got the ticket in.

Credit reporting agency has my traffic record? My traffic record won't affect my credit, will it?

call your local court house. they should be able to point you in the right direct or maybe even tell you.

no the credit reporting agency(ies) that has your traffic record reports to the insurance companies and they use the info when they quote you for a policy.......same principle as what credit cards and banks do.......

so, the shittier you records is, the higher your insurance quote gonna be.......

94_AcCoRd_EX:

Just call your insurance company or go to the Local BMV and see if they will tell you. The police station may tell you too.

Bootstrap:

I have a friend that has had his license suspended 3 times. 2 times for 90 days and one time for 6 months. Other then not being able to drive insurance is killing him. If you have to get an SR-22 you can say goodbye to cheap insurance for atleast 5 years or so.

As for getting caught while driving with a suspended license. You could face some serious fines, get your car impounded, and maybe even Jail time.:o

No.. there are different points system for different states I believe.. theoretically I think you could get 10 points in every state and not have your license suspended...I think..

here in PA i think you get to accumulate 10 pts before your license is taken away...I think it's 7 before you have to take a written test. The cool thing is for every year you don't get a ticket or violation, you loose 2 pts. So, in feb or march I'll be back down to 1 pt on my license. The last time I got pulled over (Feb or March of this yr) I was doing 76.8 in a 55...which was like $160ish fine and 4 or 5 pts. Luckily the cop didn't want to pull me over speeding, he was actually going after a DUI...and said I was speeding on my ticket but charged me for failing to obey a posted sign. So, I got a $95 fine and 3 pts. Basically what he charged me with was something like running a stop sign. Yes we get 3 pts for running stop signs (damn nazi cops in PA!)
But thank god erin had to take her pts test to drop 2-3 pts off her license, so now I know all the sneaky rules and stuff. Thats how I know all of what I said so far. I also know that I can do 11 mph over the speed limit without getting pulled over. The pts and worthwhile fines don't kick in until you go 12mph+ over the speed limit ;) So needless to say I cruise at 11 mph over the posted limit everywhere I go.

Thanks for the info everyone :)

My friend had to get an SR-22 and he will finally be able to afford insurance again next year. It increased premiums by thousands/year for about 3-4 years.

94accord - go to the court house, where you pay tickets (if yours is like that) and they'll tell you. i remember last time i went to pay a ticket the cashier person thingy had a sheet of paper at his workstation that said the points crapola....

i cant believe you asked if having your license suspended was bad......thats sad.

What's the point in speeding anyway?
I mean you'll get there eventually, plus you'll get there with more money in your pocket...damn...I don't get it...

in indiana its
2 points for 1-10 over
3 points for 11-20 over
4 points for 21-30 over
anythign over 30 is wreckless driving and you have a mandatory court appernce and the judge decides what happens. Running a stop sign, unsafe lane movement, driving with your brights on and not dimming for oncoming cars are all 4 points also. BTW street racing is a mandotary court appernce so you can beg for mercy infront of the judge plus what ever the officer decieds to do to you.
