OK, first i would like evryone to understand i am only 16 soon 17 and granted i dont have money to afford any real expensive cars. So here is the dilemima.... When i graduate (In 2004)a family member is gonna give me a 95 lazer red Camaro T-tops. But the other day i was talking to them about it and told them to sell it either now or after winter and just give me that amount of money to find a car and toy with the extra. But im not sure if they are gonna go for it. So what should be done? Beg for them to sell and give me a good 15 grand and buy like a 9 grand acura or something and "tinker" with that or wait for the camaro?

if they're gonna "give" you a car, I would take it and go from there...you can always sell it yourself later. You wouldn't want to risk them changing their minds and not give anything to you.......

in 2004 a 95 camaro is going to be 10 years old... they will only be worth probobly 3 or 4 thousand considering its a v6

 Mmm...good point there. U should decide also, what you're wanting out of a car...looks, speed, good gas mileage, dependability...put all these things together then check the consumer reports & find out what kind of car matches these things for you.
But, i would not upset people who are just handing me a car. If they are willing to sell it now though...and you think you'd eventually sell it later...it would probly be a good call to have them sell it now. It will get you more money now than it will later.

Yeah I agree with 4thgenlude... ive seen 2000z28 camaros with like 30k miles go for around 15k... they are dirt cheap and resale in in the gutter... a 95 v6... good luck finding someone to pay to take that off your hands... just take that and find a suitable replacement engine (hemi:bow: ) once you save some cash...

This camaro has the 5.7 liter V8 not the V6. Though is a common mistake among every one i talk to.

Um, so you'll graduate, and your reward is a nine year old 1995 LT1 Camaro? Do you really want to walk the path less chosen of domestic performance? Can you handle having 275hp and 300lb/ft and losing arguments about hp per litre? Do you have a mullet? Are you up for the simple joys of Optispark and power window replacement? Will you adjust to having to say "header" in plural? Can you do without ricer chicks? Do you enjoy driving opposite lock because you didn't notice it was wet out? Are you up for the very likely responsibility of being the single fastest car in your social group? Can you handle barking a one-two powershift for seventy feet of sweet, sweet smelling positraction burn to the awe and wonder of all around, including police?

If so, this may be a car for you. But I'm biased.

Pardon me, you appear to be about the right IQ level for a secondgen, not a fourthgen as previously posted. My mistake.

well kid, If I were you then I'd probably go for what I REALLY wanted. If you want the integra you should try for it I love integras. But I dunno If it would be rude not to accept the camaro I guess it depends on how close you are to this family member. My best friend has an older camaro and she would rather have that then any import, even if its not the best in it's class.:o

Allow me to boil things down for you. Three lessons of Life are in that post:

1. If you want to be fast, take the Camaro. If you want to be another high school graduate in a Teg, go that route.
2. Free car + no car payments after school + saved cash from jobs = financial independance and Ferrari's later on in life.
3. You've already made a decision, and have no interest in other people's opinions.

Cheers,
Max

Im going to agree with Max on this one.

Tell us why you dont want a 5.7L Camaro that is being given to you!

I personally dont think young people should have that much power. Most of them dont appreciate what it can do and usually end up getting hurt or hurting someone else.

If you feel that you cant/shouldnt have a car with that much power, then you are probably better off not owning it.

is this gonna be your first car?
if so, you're a fool not to take it.
i've had 3 mustangs and have had a job paying for them all since i was in 10th grade. $270 a month + school is not fun. as you can see i do not have many mods because all my money goes to paying for the actual car. LT1's arent that great but a hell of a lot better than an integra. and for free.... all ur money could go into that car. they are decent stock. 13.9-14.1. what integra can do that with 0 mods. even if u dont wanna mod it or do anything to it. keep it. drive it till you save money for what u really want then trade it in towards, sell, or even keep it so u can get what u want. its simple.... fast bone stock car for free with no payments or not so fast car that you will be paying for. whatever floats your boat i guess. so it may look like a cat fish, but youll be winning a hell of a lot more races than in an integra.

SVT, this is the first post I've seen from you that actually made sense and didn't offend anyone...:D anyway, I agree with SVT...free car, no payments = money to spend on other stuff or save for what you want later.

Basicly what you don't seem to understand about all of us is we mod our (relativley)slow cars because we all wish we were given a fast car. instead we were given/got a cheap import and we are now trying to make that car fast.

you are being offered a REALLY fast (although ugly and imo shitty) car that is just plain worth more. and you want to sell the fast car so you can buy an overpriced slow car (integra) so that you can use the extra money left over from your better car sale to make your new slow worse car a little less slow.

Ya that makes great sense

and the reason that whoever doesn't want to sell the car and give you the money is cuz they're pbly thinking about how psyched they would've been to get a camaro at your age. and then thinking about how your going to either crash the car outright (you will) or sell the car to get some piece of crap car that's slow cuz you saw Vin Diesel ripping up the streets in one.

Take it. Its free and all the extra you'll have will be nice. Car payments suck.
