How would you go about, reducing, sliding, and keeping the car more balanced on hard turns with a stock suspension?

Lets hear some idea?

First one Id say would be your tires... Get a better set of wheels and tires, and pay attention to tire pressure..

and then

Checking the weight of your car and making sure it has proper weight distrubution, with a corner scale (I think thats what its called..)

I'd say that article covers it well, but in short, it is mainly up to the tires? CG

I agree the tires will play a big part in making it alittle better... But there are so many things that you can do to help or hurt handling and cornering in general... Everything from Air pressure in the tires to swaybars plays a roll... Its a huge puzzle that takes a lot of time and testing to perfect..

I agree the Tires. Lets not forget the quality of the tire, the rubber compound, the dimensions (profile, width, ect)

I don't have grippy tires and I just went sliding sideways in my car today....It was a little wet but shouldn't have happened...I would say I need new tires.hahaha

good call, we'll recommend some great tires :)

Ok so what tire pressure is best for all around action, how would you go about testing tire temps to find a happy medium

I used to have NITTO and they sucked! I'm runnin Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712 215/45/16 along with ST sway bars, coilovers, Tokikio 5 ways, and strut braces. With the NITTO tires I was all over the place, I couldn't buy some grip. The Kuhmo's are the bomb! I have not had any problems with grip. I'm running a tire pressure of about 35-30 on the street. Just have to remembr that I can't go barreling over potholes or speed bumps. On a stock styled car, in this case a 00 hatch, I have experienced a very similar story. The car can't take advantage of the close to non adhesion as well as a set up car but the Kuhmo's do prove to be better than most other tires that I have tried. I've also managed to get my friends to switch to either Kuhmo or Nanking as they are comprable tires with a slightly lower price in our area. Both tires should be readily available at your local tire shop.

I too use kumho 712's.. So far they have been great.. Ive had Toyo FZ4's and Toyo T1 plus, IMO and from what Ive experienced Kuhmos are as good if not better then the toyos...

Kuhmos are awesome! I had a set on my Focus. They work great and they're cheap.

Just as a comparison.

My 98 EX that I had could not take corners nearly as well as my newly acquired 00 Si does. Several factors.

00 Si vs 98 EX
1. 15" Rims vs 14" Steel "things"
2. KUMHO vs Goodyear Aquatread 3 (I LOVE THESE KUMHOs)
3. Stock front(26mm) & rear(13mm) swaybar vs stock front(22mm) swaybar
4. Stock strut tower brace vs nothing

If I compared it to my EX with the addons (Eibach Sportlines & front & rear strut tower braces), I would say that the Si "grips" better. The tires make or break the traction.

Actually the main factor you left out between the Si and EX, stock is the Civic Si has stiffer shocks and more aggressive spring rates.

Well as a comparison to the EX when I had the Eibach springs & such, it still grips better.

I think the swaybars help it feel a ton better. My friends Teg LS for way more stable the my EX (with springs and shocks) does even when his LS had stock suspesion.

Tires play a major part in your handling indeed...

as to help a front/rear strut brace would help as well lower rear tie bar. the last thing that could also help would be to put in the sway bars.

You would notice a handling diff for sure....
