I had no idea that was an issue. That's pretty scary.

You know what, people complain to much. You buy a North American car and theres always problems. Theres one batch of problems and people are saying "i wont buy a honda again" or "i wish they'd do more," no one makes cars like honda makes cars. If you think because of this honda is shit, you dont deserve to own one and honda should take it off your hands.
I can't believe that people might get so harsh with I bought this car because of the company's reputation for quality. I was going to buy a Honda product and drive it for 250,000 miles," he said. "But now I can guarantee you that when the warranty is up, the car is gone. And this will probably be in my mind when I go looking for a replacement." that guy is a jerk. The new tranny will out last any NA tranny and guess what its a HONDA.
So honda made a mistake, not like other car companies didn't, does anyone remember the seats that fell out the back of vans? Or how about TREAD issues on the ford SUVs? This article leads me to believe that the honda name is ruined, silly writter. Interesting that no one complained about the service they got. Might be because honda/acura dealers have the best customer service out there. My down town acura dealer wax, washes, buffs my car and shines my tires every time i bring the car in granted sometimes I dont get the waxing :( but they make up for it in the fact i never bring the car back with a problem. It will be the first time ever i'll bring it back saying something is wrong (re:fog light) but i'm no jumping on them about it because 1 isn't a patern.
1.6% error is dam small. I would be interesting to know in the last 10 years what the percent tranny falures for all the manufactures were. My guess honda/acura will have the lowest!

well the autotrannies on hondas aren't the best outhere. all my problems with the car come from the tranny. it messed up my chassis from all that jerking, not it's stuck into 4th and there is nothing i can do. maybe the h22 will come sooner.

A buddy of my brother's whose father runs a Honda dealership got himself one of the nice Acuras and within about 10k his tranny was shot....metal shavings everywhere.
But ya know what, nobody makes perfect products. There's always going to be a bad apple in a large enough bunch. People just don't understand the way manufacturing works, or even the way anything works, if they make claims like "I had one problem with my car and I'll never buy another one again." Ya really gotta look at the number of failures in a large batch and then compare....Honda's got one of the lowest.
But we already knew that.....
I'm not too impressed with my manual tranny, though....I dunno what's up with it, but it's real inconsistent. Sometimes smooth, sometimes rough....sometimes doesn't want to go into gear. Can't wait to drop in my Redline MTL, though....I'm hoping it's just an oil issue.

i agree with chris on this one. i never seen so much metal shavings coming out of a tranny as i've seen from mine. also they should learn and make better rubber for gaskets.
