Since when did Cavaliers become fast??

Anyways, here's the story. Me and my friend were crusing around tonite and just goofing off when i see this cavalier that i want to race sooo bad. Anyways, i could tell he didn't want to race because we chased him all over town and he was speeding away at like 80km/hour in the 50 zones cuz he didn't want to race. So FINALLY i get next to him at a red light and i revved my engine. He looked over and revved his. The light turns green, and he frickin smoked me! I can't believe it. From what i can tell all his car has is an exhaust. I just got my CAI and it seemed to boost my power. Anyways, i lost fair and square. I have beaten other cavaliers but maybe this guy just knows how to drive...?

I don't like cavaliers :pukey Hey Guess WHAT! I was driving my sister's stock 4cylinder automatic Jetta And i pulled up next to this mustang v6 (probably late 90's) and he was staring at the light waiting for it to turn green, I wasnt really paying attention but i looked at it right when it turned green and floored it I WASTED HIM!

What kinda cavalier was it, a Z34? Or just a plain Cavi?

dude one thing you have to realize...and accord isn't a crazy sports car either. It's decently fast and good on the highway but it's not a speed demon.
If the guy put some money into the engine, I wouldn't be surprised.
Now don't get me wrong, I'd rather have an Accord over a crapalier any day!

Well the Z's will smoke you. They still aren't that fast, but they're faster than the Accord.... Well not the V6 Accord;)
Somthing like 150 & 130ft/lb I think.... Depends on the year..

i keep hearing these kinds of stories, i dunno what to say.. i've never raced and lost... but dude thats a sad thing, did you dump the cluch and just sit there? how did he just smoke you? you should have been right beside him until he started hitting his power band.

you have AOLT of extra weight in your car with sterio, and your rims are killing ya. that is hurting you more than the CAI is helping you

What do you mean my rims are killing me? Because they are old, ugly and heavy?? I could probably buy some rims off a friend of mine for less than $400. They are still 15" tho. I would prefer to get 16" rims and low profile tires. Low profile tires would look dumb on 15" rims

He means the rims are killing you because of weight.

Personally I like rims on cars. They add weight, but it can be made up for elsewhere. Like the stereo system. Though OZ makes some 15lb 17" rims. The Superleggra I think.

my bad, i thought u had 17's for some reason. it was noticable for me when i switched from my heavy 17's to the stock 15's, then switching to the light 17's was a little slower, but not tooo much

what about if i bought nice 16" rims with low profile rubber..what do you think that would be like? look/performance wise...or i could save ALOT of moneyand just keep my rubber and buy those rims off my friend. I'm not sure what kind of rims theya re but they are nice..

Its not really the size. Its the weight you need to watch for. If you've got stocks on now, look elsewhere to reduce weight. Spare tire, take out subs, etc....

Otherwise, OZ makes some lightweight wheels as does Konig, Rota, etc....

Isn't there a chip you can replace in the car's computer? I know you can do that to a truck, when it's gotten a lift kit and bigger wheels, to give it more power.

Yeah, but they do very little on our Hondas. You might see a 10hp increase at most.

Watch out for the little GM products... They now sell a factory-backed, dealer installed supercharger. It was designed specifically for the crapalier and sunfire.
