Ive been wondering this for a while and cant really figure it out... why is my car fast on the street but sucks ass at the drag strip? On the street I can hang with 14second cars, but am 16seconds at the track... this just doesnt make sense... does it have to do with track preparation more than anything? ie: removing spare, deflating tires, etc? Im sure theres a simple answer but I cant see it. And no dont say Im jumping the light on the street cause I normally start a little behind my "opponent" because I want to make sure they are racing before I go... that and I have an auto tranny:pukey ... Anyways... any help would be appreciated... thanks

Part of it has to do with the track surface, ect. Plus, maybe those 14 second cars arent trying as hard as they do on the track. Dunno I have noticed Street vs. Strip times, Street times are usually faster.

ive never launched as hard on the street as i do on the track. it would make too much noise, and i dont wana risk having to pick an axle up in traffic

plus the other guy driving may not be very good at it
I think maybe it just seems slower...
since all you're doing is going in a straight line with nothing else on your mind...i dunno...thats just what i think.

Yeah that's pretty much exact. I know I can drive alot better/faster on the street. But in my case its mostly mental. I tend to focus too much on the strip and fugg up something. On the street I'm much more relaxed. Or maybe its because I don't have that damn tree starrin at me with all of its lights..

That'd be embarassing as hell. I never launch hard on the street either.

i hate the tree.... i messed up last night AGAIN 15.101@93.9 with a 2.4 60ft was my best. we had tons of spills and rain last night though, so that didnt help at all. i beat a rsx-s and a old fox body 5.0 though... so maybe it was just a slow track night?
