Its just wrong!! j/k its great. I found it in my neighborhood for 3,850. Its a 1993 with very few problems. only 73k on it. She paid 3,300 and learned to drive stick VERY fast. Her muffler is almost non-existant, so thats getting replaced. I'm trying to convince her to let me do a few things to it, i.e full performance exhaust or at least cat-back.
This is definatly an improvement over an '85 Toyota CamryLE.
BTW: what looks good on a DelSol? I haven't seen too many.
What is the engine code for a delsol? its a 1.5L what? ZC? D-series? (non-vtec)

pop the hood, to the left of the header, you'dd see a little number/letter combo on the engine block. im guessing is says d16something if it says b16... she got the si/vtec

It should be the d16z6...I think. One of my buddies has a 93 si. It is quite slow. It looks better than mine though. But mine owns him at the track.

 Thats a damn good price for the car.
It could have a D15, D16, or a B16.. Youd know if it were a B16 though..;)

Yeah she got a great price.
I pretty sure I would know if it were vtec. I'll check under the hood again. It would've said vtec on the valve cover though wouldn't it?
Plans for it include exhaust first, then sound system, maybe a CAI. (SHe's not hugely into car mods so it'll be a tough sell.)
I'll keep you posted.

You should be jelous of her getting a sweet kar like a Sol...as for what engine it will have....it won't have the B series engine because 1993's never came with it...and Some SOCH VTEC's don't come with VTEC written on the head of it....Mine doesn't have VTEC written on it....

now you got me all curious...I'm going over to her house tonight, I'll check it out.
Man, her mom went and had Midas do the exhaust! Midas! that was $160 wasted. She wanted the garuntee, but she doesn't know they only gaurentee the muffler, not the piping. So I guess when it rusts through this winter, I'll finally have the chance to do the cat-back. I was pissed.
So It looks like we're going to do a cold air intake, then little crap: get clear bumper lenses (cause one is missing), pedals, shift knob, neon accents, alarm, etc. One thing every two weeks or so, because of stupid bi-weekly paychecks!
By the way, does anyone know if intake tubing comes in purple?
(by the way I really can spell, I just don't feel like it)

Honestly, I'd rather keep my civic because there are not that many around my area. I see delSols all the time, but they are still cool cars.
It looks like we'll be holding off on any performance for a while...We/I was driving around when we pull into her driveway and she notices the coolant guage was near the H...I pop the hood and smell the lovely odor of antifreeze...huge leak at the bottom of the radiator. I told her I could try to replace it myself and save her a hundred bucks. What am I getting myself into? I looked at the Chiltons manual and it seems pretty easy for that year of car. Its a manual so theres no extra tubing, I just don't quite understand how to bleed the cooling system.
Also, does the car need to be on a lift, or can the radiator come out the top?

Not to bash on civic owners but I don't care to much for cars that were marketed towards old ladies and getting their groceries...

Not to bash on any one but I think all of us here are driving a honda of some sort......By the way that radiator change out is a sinch man.....What they mean by bleeding it out is so that when you disconect it the coolant dosent come spilling out every where ...Usally at the bottom of the radiator there is a nob or a plug of some sort....You just take this out or unscrew it and the fluid will come pooring out just make sure to have a bucket or somthing......and usally there is only a couple of bolts holdig the radiator in ....You take the clips off pull it out pop the new one in hook up the fan and replace the hoses and your as good as new....If you like I can take a look at my moms delsol and let you know what you can exspect....but most likely you should only need a 12 mm rachet and a screw driver.......well hope this will help you .......
Good luck....
TY

thanks man. It turns out her uncle was able to fix it. I had an idea earlier today at school and that prolly was what it was - the bottom hose. I just assumed it was a split radiator cause thats what happend to me. I was all set to come over to her house and work on it, when she says that her uncle fixed it...oh well. Thats good, cause she has other problems: weather stripping on the hardtop, brakes squeling (that I can fix!)
