new and viewed post

when i first get on this forums in the morning it shows me wut people posted up while i was away.... my question is how come the "new post" sign doesnt go away after you view it??

The new post button will always get you the newest posts. If you stay on the site and hit the button again, it just updates who's replied to the new posts that happened when you were away. If you leave the site for awhile and come back, it will give you the posts that happened when you were away again.
