ok, hypothetical situation here...

let's say you get an alarm installed and have lots of problems with it, then the place that installed it is "temporarily closed for construction" but really went out of business. is there anything you can do to get your money back, or are you screwed?

Do you have a warranty for the alarm itself? I would call the company that manufactures it and explain the situation. Perhaps, they could refer you to another dealer or installer of that particular alarm.

what he said..

In most cases, they'll just tell you to take to another authorized dealer to have it fixed.

It's totally cool. With the whole import scene...It's obviously dominated by guys. They're aren't too many girls that are that serious about it. It's a common mistake. I have tinted windows. When I roll them down, the situation is clarified. I think 94accord ex is posting a picture of me today because I made this big joke about me being a baller (not at all) so I e-mailed him a pic cause I'm not computer smart enough to do it myself. Ok, I promise. No more talk about what I just promised not to talk about.

that really sucks that somethin like that would happen...but if you did happen to go to court about it, they'd probably say something like they'll fix it when they finish contruction

Call teh mfg. of the alarm. They'll be able to refer you to someone else. Otherwise you're likely out of luck.

OT:
Damn. This thread just got whored up....

Well, maybe if some people on H.S. didn't call me a he this never would've happened ;) Ok, here is a technical question though...Remote starters. Is is true that they kill your battery or so to speak?

who told you that?? Cause you should kick his or her arse!!

If anything, a remote starter will help your car..
here's why.
To keep it simple I've used simple and concepts..

When you start your car with the key this is what happens -- you turn the key *start position* -- the starter motor is activated -- starter motor cranks the engine -- engine fires up. But we are only human, and well our senses arent super hyper fast, so there is a short time laps at which you'll still be holding the key in the *start engine* postions, and the car is already started. This of course puts a lot of stress on the starter motor.

When you start your car with a remote starter, the problem described above virtullay disappears..

Plus 90% of remote starters come with functions that'll save you if you live in a place where it gets cold.. (example : starts your car every 3.5 hours and lets it run for 10 mins, when its below 25°C --on mine its fully programmable.)
