Yup its on its way..

This isnt anything new, but its a topic that hasnt been discussed.

For those that were clueless about this, here's whats up.
Withing a couple of years we will start seeing these on cars.. The transition will be gradual, but eventually the entire electrical system will be built to that voltage. Higher voltage = less required amperage. Thus smaller awg wires and such..
Many cable/air/fluid components will be switched to small electrical motors (brakes..)
And we'll be able to have a motherload of electronics. 12v is really being pushed to its limits..

That's strang timing. I just read an extensive article on this and it was really interesting.

sorry to bore you then... j/k ;) :D

wouldn't the batteries need to get bigger and heavier ? i've seen on discovery a test car and the damn batteries were occuping the whole trunk.

Interesting.

Kinda my thoughts too. Not sure how they'd cope with the increase in size.

voltage simply carries the amperage.

higher voltage = lower required amperage.

no big batteries or anything like that..

the convetional batteries are made out of cells, each one carring about 2 V. every battery has about six cells so they will come up with the 12 v. to have a 42v battery you will need 21 cells, so the battery will grow larger. Anyway the bigger the cell bigger the amperage, but i still think the batteries will grow up in size and weight.

A conversion would kinda suck though, for those of us with older cars. All electrical systems would need to be changed to use newer stuff.
