Car in question: 95 Civic LX
I just got my clear corners for my car and I'm slightly paranoid about getting a ticket because I only have the regular bulb in there and tons of back luck...
My understanding is that the bulb is a 3496 bulb but I can't seem to find any amber ones anywhere. Ideas or alternate suggestions? or a link to where I could order some?
Thanks. Cops aren't my friends;)

You can go with a Polarg G34 Visual Amber, if you don't mind spending the money. They look really trick in clear housings!

thanks for the link- Definately one of the more pricey bulbs out there;) It does look sweet and I may give it a shot but now I weigh out $20/bulb X 2 VS tickets..
ok bulbs still win - hehe

I recently put red/clears in my 96 civic. However for the turn signals amber bulbs are not made for my year i was told. So i went to an auto store and bought the regualr bulbs then went to the nearest hobby shop and bought a small container of amber modeling paint maybe, something like that. I put 2 coats of it on the bulbs and the next day they were dry and have worked great ever since.

screw that. i know murray's has some victor bulbs for 99 cents a pair and they come any color. the only problem with them is that the blue ones tend to turn green ( at least one of them) i have them in my corner lights and in my dash cluster. also i had a lot of conversations with cops and they told me that in Oh you gotta have white or amber for front or amber or red for the rear. and one more thing, if u get lower wattage clear bulbs the light will be pretty much similar to the amber ones

ok i am going to feel dumb but what is hyper yellow? is it supposedly cool to have your turn signals blinking like they are on speed? some of these "cool" mods are beyond me, i cant understand how they can be "cool". uh oh maybe i am just showing my age.........oops. oh and i know they make yellow bulbs because the acura dealership where my bf works sells a ton of them!
good luck,
Becky

That's where I found my amber bulbs. None of the auto stores around here had them, so I called up Nopi and they shipped out the bulbs to my door for like $13.00.

I know Matrix makes a bulb similar to the Polarg that run about $7 a bulb. There's one other company, but I can't think of the name....
Edit:
Another thing. I didn't think white turn signals were illegal in Ohio. I know the blues & greens are because I got pulled over for it. The cop said amber, yellow & white were ok. Don't quote me on that if you get a ticket.;)

Another thing....
Your bulb part# should be 1157. That's the common part# for them. Use that to look it up. That link I posted will show you your bulb #'s.

hmmm, you are not supposed to have blue, but for green you can tell the cop to screw himself.

And still get a ticket. According to the ORC you can have amber, yellow or white. I'll try to pull up the section on that.

I do know that the 5th gen. civics use the same sockets as the 6th gen. civics, cause I switched one of mine, so the bulbs are the same. I can find them all over the place where I live, so I don't know why they are not anywhere there.

Pep Boys has mirrored bulbs like the Polargs. They're APC Titaniums and only $6.

the number changes when the color changes ex. 1157 is clear and a 2057 is amber they both fit the same socket just dif. colors.
i think the amber version of the 3496 is the 3296 (not sure though)
yer best bet is to got to AutoZone and get the yellow bulbs that look most like your bulbs you shouldn't have any problems

The number has nothing to do with the color. Its the actual socket style. The number can vary among the different bulb manufacturers as well.
