the tip on my apex N1 is 3.5". so by your definition, my car is rice. whatever.

rice to me is alum wings, altezzas, neon licence plate frames, stickers that represent products you dont have, chrome hubcaps, chrome door trim, LED washer lights, unnecessary fog lights, etc.

my piping for my exaust is 2.5 inches and then theres a tip, maybe 3.5 inches.... greddy sp exaust

i'd call rice cars that are done to look fast, like performance stickers, non funtional body parts that are supposta look functional (wing, hood pins on stock hood) and arnt. poorly done car (cut springs etc) for a look. i dont knock all body kits, but ones that arnt put on right, or not painted kits for long periods of time. vinal that is over used and suppsta look like a paint job. altezzas are... um mufflers i think are. it all depends on what the person thinks of the import scene. if your trying to make a show car, then some things are aloud, like mufflers. but if your trying to make a fast car, and you do some things that dont help at all.....

i can go on forever. im gonna stop mid thought and end this

my own definition:
rice is for breakfast, lunch and dinner..hahah:)

psychological definition:
The term "rice" is humans making their car look more bigger and faster to compensate for their mental and physical problems associated with their social life...;(,

thats a little too harsh...

textbook definition:
rice is or are cars that pretend to be fast by using a combination of various techniques to make the observers believe that the car is actually fast, when in reality is not.

whew! that was fun!

*confession* I wasn't really aware of any import "scene" until I rented the F&F DVD and watched all the extra bits.

Fact is, it was that film that brought me to this site. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

As for the whole Rice concept. well it exists in the UK more in domestic form. Ford Escorts, Vauxhall (GM) Novas, Renault 5s...

Having said that, today I saw my first real live modified import but it looked like it had just as much "go" as it did "show" and therefore not rice?

http://www.riceboypage.com/ was a hell of a laugh too :)

http://www.cardomain.com/id/raresi - would this be rice? Its the sort of thing I would like to create, but with a few more performance parts.

basicaly, the scene wasnt how it was described in f&f, they made it seem. after the movie every kid wanted to be just like the people in the movie. old people now refer to my car as one of those fast and furious cars, which its not, its a clean car thats quick. i have no graphics on it, no wing besides the stock one, i do have nitrous, but i dont call it NAAAAAWZ... ive had a bad morning, im getting off before i start offending people.

I personally think the whole "rice mod" thing is BS. Granted there are some pretty stupid mods but hell, if thats what that person like then so be it. People do stupid stuff everyday. Why should modding cars be any different? If you dont like the way someones car looks, then good for you. I dont see the point in putting down that person just because you dont like what they do.

Hell its like piercing or tattoos. People do them because they like them. There are many people out there that dont like them. So what? Everyones entitled to their own opinion. I personally think that the person that sits there and talks shit about someone elses car, does nothing but make themselves look stupider then the person that originally did the stupid mod.

Thats just the way I feel about the whole thing. Sorry about the rank, but I personally am sick of hearing people talk smack about other peoples rides. Especially these days because everyone has a different thought of exactly what mod is "ricey".

i dont understand why fwd cars put on those big ass wings i mean all they are doing is taking away traction from their front tires if they race (if u didnt know the wing puts more downforce on the back of the car) its stupid:no:

That is true for me also. That is the movie that really got me interested in cars much more then I used to be. At first it was just the hype of the movie. Then when I kept on looking and reading about cars and came to this site, it was just amazing what cars could be capable of. IT's that huge span of power that got me amazed.

When talking about downforce you should increase downforce in both the front or the back to keep air from getting under the car and causing it to "float" at highspeeds and over bumps. Granted some of those wings are alittle overkill. But to say a wing on the back of a FWD car is pointless is a false statement. Why would FWD touring cars run them if all they did was hurt performance. I dont think they would, do you?

Downforce pushes downward on the car keeping the tires a little more firmly on the ground. The biggest time you will see a benefit is went you come up over a small hump when you can usually feel it lift, after installing a wing and a front spoiler the car feels so much more planted. By increasing or decreasing downforce you can also increase and decrease oversteer and understeer. This is where adjustablity comes into play. It takes a lot more work then just bolting it on to get it to work. Although most people dont go this far, it still helps.

Im not saying that the bigger the wing the better. I dont particular care for wings at all, but a smaller one that serves a purpose isnt that bad.;)

rice (rs)
n.
A cereal grass (Oryza sativa) that is cultivated extensively in warm climates for its edible grain.
The starchy grain of this plant, used as a staple food throughout the world.

tr.v. riced, ric·ing, ric·es
To sieve (food) to the consistency of rice.

Pretty easy in my opinion.

Honestly though, there is no rice. That term was used to degrade people who drove import cars.

Just because someone does something to their car that you don't like doesn't justify it as rice. Everyone likes different things. If we all liked the same things, it'd be damn boring.

my definition of rice:

if you lower your incorrectly (cutting springs)
adding a big face tach to a stock car.
adding a wing that isn't factory to your car. (aka bookshelf)
thinking racing from street light to street light against someone
that you know for a fact would leave you behind in the 1/4 mile.
adding sponsor stickers to a car that doesn't have sponsors or any of the products for the stickers.

Last week, my friend that sits next to me at work printed me out several pages from the riceboy site. He's all about the domestics so he likes to crack jokes. I found the whole thing about lowering cars and how that kid actually made the comment about how his car handles better with the stock springs funny. I don't know. I think the F&F was a little unrealistic at times. And after that came out everyone started painting their cars all crazy like. People started driving a lot more like a-holes too and that ruined it for a lot of other people...

I personally feel the movie sucked. The plot was awful. I just liked the cars. The main character was more of a tool than Vin Diesel. He has this thing with repeating everything twice. I need NOS. I need NOS...etc.

I'm sorry. I made a crack. It's not that I really hated it that much. Movies like that just aren't my type of movies. My favorite movie is Clockwork Orange. There's not many movies that I've seen lately that were that good. Signs was good. I loved Lord of the Rings.

You know, that's what I heard from several people too! I was going to read the books but then I decided that it might make the movies disappointing or something. Thomas Harris, he wrote Silence of the Lambs and the movie that followed it. I saw the movies but then I read the books and I thought that the movies sort of sucked in comparison.

I really think they should of Made Each Book into Two Movies, as Tolkien Orginally Wrote the Series. For a total of 6 movies. They should of made the Hobbit too, For Seven!!!

But anyway the Movies are seriously Lacking Character Developement. The relationship Between the Elf and the Dwarf for Example!

ANYWAY !! READ THE DAMN BUKZ !!!! Get some Culture and Edumacation.

dude..fast and furious is pretty sweet. I liked it because the DVD features explains that at "Racewars" the film makers just put out flyers and posters and invited everyday normal civilains to come out with their rides and race..I think that made it really sweet...

ha ha, you told me to get some education but you spelled it wrong :D Sorry, I'm just joking. I like to read a lot. Currently, I'm reading A Beautiful Mind. I'm not a big fan of Liv Tyler. Personally, I think she sucks. Ever see One Night at McCools? Terrible. I just don't think she belonged in Lord of the Rings. But the whole lacking character develpment thing, that's why I'm afraid to read it before I see it. I don't want to get all pissed and start hating on the movie.

Oh no, I'm sorry. Do you want to hear something somewhat ironic? I had a Lord of the Rings party last night. Damn, that sounds dorky. It consisted of a few friends, a 30 pack and a big bag of doritos. The good kind. But that's not the ironic part...For some reason, I'm now dying to read the books after all that I said...maybe I shouldn't
