how fast are crx's with ZC's? my friend is droping a ZC into his 88 hf. also what ecu should he run for best performance?

Well a guy that I know dropped a ZC into his CRX. He's running super low 16's right now. As for the ECU he is trying 3 different ones out right now. We spent the day at the track. I'll find out what ECU he's trying and what was most successful

Umm...stupid question, but what's ZC stand for?

ChrisCantSkate

um, its the engine code.. i dunno what it stands for

So what's the engine code then
a D16ZC???
because it's not a B Series engine.

it would be a dohc zc. there are no engine codes for zc motors

I don't know too much about wiring....but the three ECU's he was using were as follows.

Yeah for sure. It'll be interesting to see what different times the two run

first off we had a spare crx for parts(yes the whole car) so we first started unclipping the harness case we realized the duel point injector he had wasnt gonna work with the ZC's multi point. the harness alone took well over an hour to get all out in one peice. when that finaly came out, we started to hook it upto the ZC. first problem arose on the distributor. they had different harnesses. the ZC had a 5 wire square looking one and i think the d16 had a circle 7 wire one. after tracing all the wires back we figured the ones that did what, made the harnesses work, and moved on from that. oh, we sniped the knock and pressure sensor off the d16 and the zc cause we were afraid of yanking them and breaking it off the 2 different engines. we spliced the wires back together.. worked fine.basicaly now we have a ZC on a crate, wired. now we put the drivers side and front mounts on. the front mount didnt line up perfect for some reason on the block, so we lenghtend the holes and made it work. it fits fine and ended up fitting in the engine bay right. the car was swaped from a auto and the mount on the d16 that we yanked didnt bolt upto the maunal tranny of the ZC, so thats one part we still need. also the rear mount didnt line up right, we;re thinking its another auto/manual thing, so we're gonna try to get a maunal one and see if that helps at all. we need a downpipe or port out the d16 exaust manifold cause his engine didnt come with the downpipe portion of the manifold. the ZC tps sensor was cracked.. prboboly from shipping, so we were just gonna unscrew the one on the d16... but it was rivited in. we had to drill it out, which needed a long drill cause of the closeness to teh intake manifold. then unscrew the ZC's and hope they line up... which they did. um..... oh.. another problem we hit. the harness form the spare crx we got had a different main harness for the interior fuse box. they both had the same number of pins and both were big circle harnesses so we figured it would work... nope different patterns. its now about 10pm dark and the bugs are getting bad. we unclip the spare harness and realizsed we needed more light. right now we have a ZC with 2 mounts bolted in, still on the engine lift. no axles on yet. no hoses connected.

now i have a few questions...

will the axles from the spare crx (manual) work on the ZC?

you say integra ecu works... is that a p75?

what headers(d16, b16 etc) do you put on a ZC engine as far as performance?

Axles...I wouldn't see why not....axles are axles....

p75? I don't know...let me check with the guy that did the swap
Headers. Going to check on that one too.

As for headers you will need D series headers, and they would work "as is", but the ports are a little different on the ZC engine, so for best performance you will need to port out the header a little bit.
If he is going to use an integra 88-89 ECU, it MUST be from a 5 spd. The automatic will not work. hope this helps.

you can use a factory si ecu, and it will run pretty good, but the 88-89 integra ecu is a better choice.
We also put a mugen chip in Jason's factory ecu, and that seems to work about the same as the teg ecu

This is what my friend said.
Hope that helped man. I didn't do the swap or help, or even know it was being done....but this is as much info that i got so far.

hrm i know someone with a obd1 integra 5spd ecu. its a p75, that ecu code would be a HUGE help. he has a HF so we need a ecu basicaly.

Well give it a try....see what happens...I'm sure they didn't make too many teg ECU's for that year...ask Josh..he'll konw.
