Does anyone have an R/C car/truck? Ive been thinking about buying one but Im not to sure what I want yet.
Im probably going to get an offroad car since I live in the booneys, and the most of the drives and alleys around my stuff are mostly gravel type. And most of my friends have Offroad cars. Id like to eventually get an Onroad car if I really get into the R/C thing.
Im thinking about getting the TA RC10GT or the Traxxas Rustler, havent completely decided yet tho.
What about you? What do you have?

ive got a kyosho gp pure-ten spyder. i'd make sure you get one thats going to have upgrades, cause its more fun upgrading the car than actualy driving it i think. mines an on road one, but i kinda wish i got a on/off road on cause you can have tons of fun in dirt. you sacrafice speed with off road, cause mine will do about 45-55mph when i top out 2nd gear. i'd look into the HPI ones, they are the most commen with hop-ups avalibale everywhere.

Thats one thing I really like about the RC10GT. Its been around forever, and theres about nothing that you cant do to it. Im leaning strongly on that one right now.
It has a .15 motor in it, Id probably get the Plus model, it comes with all ball bearings instead of bushings.

I have lots of R/C cars, and the Rustler is durable, but not a racer. I have a Losi XXX-T now, which is the best ST I've driven. The XXX-NT is the nitro version. Don't get the RTR version b/c it is made and assembled cheaply overseas. Get the kit.

Also if you're just bashing around, get a T-maxx. They are incredibly fun and can be upgraded like crazy. (www.maxxtraxx.com)
About the Rustler, I have one with probably $600+ into it, and its still not as nice as my Losi. If you go electric, plan on buying a GOOD charger and batteries.
Well, I'm leaving on my trip now, so have fun

Ive looked at the Losi, looks real nice.. I kinda need an RTR on right now till I get a little more use to how those things work and what things are.
Im seriously considering the T-Maxx after just doing some reading on them earlier.. Im all about fun!

i've got an hpi nitro rs4. it's really well engineered- but is on-road only. i think hpi makes a truck too. the most important thing though- if noise isn't an issue, buy a fuel powered r/c. the battery thing sucks, and you can just keep on driving with nitro. that just be my .02, take it for what it's worth...

Yep. Nitro is awesome! I'm supposed to race my friend tomorrow. He just got a new Picco (however its spelled) 1.25HP engine:eek: . He'll probably toast me becuase I haven't been driving that long.
Anyhow, RR tell everyone what you got..... ;) Told you you'd have one before the weekend ;)

My friend came over last night with his Traxxas 4Tec with a new Picco engine in it. Damn. That thing flies! Mine's not tuned in yet. I spent most of the time tuning it. I still have to adjust the tranny. I was able to catch up with him. But he can take off like a bat outta hell... He can spin his tires and its a 4wd car....

Congrats on the choice RR, that's a great truck.
As for breaking in engines, make SURE you put afterrun oil in them prior to break in and pull the pull start SLOWLY to get the oil worked in. This will make it much easier (less friction) on the engine when you first break it in.
Also, make sure you put afterrun oil in the carb (and I stick some on the piston) after each day of running to keep the engine in top shape.

Well I got it running, and have been beating the hell out of it.. I already lost a screw out of the gas tank. So I need to make another trip to the Hobby Shop.
The car runs great but seems a little sluggish on lowend. I dont think I have something adjusted out right still.

If its sluggish on the lowend, lean out the low end needle a bit, but watch your temps. Since this is your first nitro, get a temp gauge or a temp gun to monitor your engine. MIP makes a cheap onboard temp gauge that works fairly well.
Also, make sure to loctite (blue) all metal on metal screws to keep them from falling out.

Well I already had to drill out some of my engine mount screws since they got shaved off. No biggie though, they're only $1.50 for 10.
Lean out your car a bit. You still want some light smoke coming out. I had mine all set up then I kept fuggin with the mixture needle and now I have to start over.

Use it to glue your tires to your rims so they don't go flying off. That's the only thing I had to use it for anyhow.

Takes alot of time to dial it in. It took me a good 45 minutes to 1hr to get it running great. Then I messed it up.
Sucks because you have to make a few runs then adjust the needles several times over.
