Ok, I was busy at work today and my car needed to be moved. My friend volunteers to move it for me since I was swamped. He comes back (after moving it) and says to me...."uhh, I think I may have put a little scratch on your rims..." I was like WTF!? I dropped what I was doing, ran outside, and found that both wheels on my right side had been curbed...the front wheel more than the rear! I almost died! I could live with a little curbing but this is SOOO DAMN NOTICABLE! I wanted to cry...:-( He told me he was making a turn and made it too soon and that is when he scratched them. I will post pics tomorrow, but fair warning, they look NASTY! I dont even want to drive it. Now I have to pay for 2 new rims (just the rims) at 199 a piece. Supposedly my friend will "pay as much as he can". QUESTION: I can order the rims and have a local tire place take off the tires from the scratched ones and place them on the new ones right? Mount and balance them is what they call it? And of course, I have to ask...HOW MUCH TO DO THAT? Anyway, I am going to cry myself to sleep now...laters. :-I;(

Not much money at all to have that done.

Make your friend pay for all of the damage, that's BS. If he's working with you, I'm sure he can save the money to pay you back.

HondaTypeJ, wow.. these are the rims that you got a couple of days ago??

they're white, I think?!
ok if they're really damaged, then it probably best to get new ones..

But if not, touch up paint is a possible solution.

my friend almost did the same thing to my rims, he asks to drive it then when he is parkin it hit hits the tire into the curb, from where i was it looked like he curbed the wheels, but luckily he didnt, i told him he was gay and that he cant touch my car again.

I went ahead and ordered 2 new rims. Yes, they are white and that is why it looks so nasty. I will post a pic soon. I am supposed to get 350 from him in the next few days and then a little more over the next few weeks.

Yuck! Well I hope he pays for them. That'd be messed up if he didn't.

One suggestion that you can give your friend is that he takes the ****ed up rims and tries to sell em on EBAY for 1/2 the price or something, and just say "Some minor scratches" and fool around a bit. He might get some money back like that after he pays for the new rims.

Dude, that blows i know you just got those, but if your freind is trying to make good then count him as a good freind.

and Juvey was right on... you can seel those on ebay, for $100 a peice

Pepboys charged me $20 to balance two wheels. i think they charge $10 to dismount and mount tires as well...

Ya, we are on good terms. He feels really bad and I know he is trying to make good out of the whole thing.

If its all around the rim like that, then he had to have rolled on the curb for some while, unless he was going to fast. Either way that sucks.

Actually some paint just might hide that. It wont be perfect at all, but if you scrape off the damaged stuff and have smooth area to work with it wont be so bad and you'll get more cash out of them...maybe.
