I'm not sure if you know this but many new cdz that are release have a new form of copy-right protection that stop the owner from making the cd into mp3s or just copying it for a friend.

The suit was brought this week in Los Angeles Superior Court by class-action specialists at the law firm Milberg, Weiss, Bershad, Hynes & Lerach on behalf of two Southern California consumers.

They sayEven when the discs can be played, their sound quality is inferior to standard CDs, and the discs often skip or fail to play all the tracks, he said. Besides being deliberately designed to prevent the copying of music on personal computers, the anti-piracy technology often prevents playback altogether on PCs, and even on some CD players, Mansfield said. In Macintosh computers, the discs often jam in the CD trays.

The cd companies say their just protecting their rights but i think their over stepping their boundaries. If I was to pay for a cd i would want to do what ever i wanted with it, including making mp3s of it to share with my friends :D .

anyone of you run into this new copy-right protection? any of you still buy cds?

thats already been cracked. though not in mainstream programs like nero, ez cd, etc. yet.

just give them a few months and we'll be able to burn those just as easy as regular cds.

yeah, just like when computer games came out on "burn proof" cd's, you just get the program that does a exact image of the cd, i forgot what it was called though.

i think there's no way to stop piracy....cuz if a company makes a "burn-proof" cd or "copyrighted" cd or whatever....there will always be ways it can be hacked into...just have to give a month or 2...b/c someone is gonna hack it.......

There will always be a way to burn a CD... think about it... some guy writes a "burn-proof" program to put on CDs and the company that hired him pays him lots of money... then he turns around and sells a crack to this program that he created, thus making more money... he just keeps doing this and the cycle never ends, and he gets more money... hey that gives me an idea...:D

dude its not old news, this just happened a few days ago (the suit that is) the protection thingy has been around for a few months. If you want to get around it by a black marker and color the bottom black then your all good.
