Ok, currently I'm on USAA. I feel I pay WAAAAAAY too much. I'm shopping around and would like to know what companies people have had good/bad experience with.
While I haven't gotten a quote yet, I'm considering Amica the most based upon some of my friends' rates with them....does anybody use them? Has anybody filed a claim? None of my friends have filed a claim with them, and that's when the truth comes out about which insurance companies are good....the price is only part of it.
Ok, so here's what I've got:
2 cars. '88 Volvo, '01 Accord. I pay more for the Accord liability than the Volvo.....
I pay something like $1100/6 mos. with USAA. Under 25 male, flawless driving record. No tickets (except one for noise violation when my friend cranked up the stereo in his car, he was drunk, I was DD, shoulda fought in court, long story....), no claims, no wrecks. One driver (me), reasonable coverage with $500 deductable....I don't recall how much insurance I have for things, but it's pretty reasonable, something like 50/100 liability (50/person, 100/accident) or something like that.
So.....here's the list of questions:
Who are you with?
What's your rate?
How many drivers on the policy?
What's your driving record like?
What's your coverage like?
Have you filed any claims? How was their service?

dude i don't know about canada but in us most of the companies carry on your policy a underinsured motorist claim, so let's say i hit a "stinkin'" lexus and the damage is more than my insurance will cover his insurance will pay for the remainder of the repairs.

If the accident is my fault my insurance pays out no matter what the cost, if its his fault his insurance pays both damanges.
i think its called third party insurance, but basically this 2million covers me if the accident is my fault and the (lets say) doctor cant work for 2-3 years, this is for compension.

NATIONWIDE IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!
No paying extra for extra insurence on aftermarket stuff. There thing is, if its apart of the car, (bolted down) its stock. All you have to do is prove you had it. I had a stereo stolen and didnt even have reciepts because it came in the car when I bought it. I did have boxes and pictures though. They are the best insurence out there. Unlike others, they actually try to help you. Others are just out to get your money.

Hmmm, even more numbers to call in the next couple months to shop around.
So has anybody made claims with or without satisfaction from their companies?
USAA pissed me off recently. My dad's truck got a gigantic crack in the windshield from a small rock, the crack travelled across the entire windshield within a couple of weeks. The dealer claimed that it's not in any way due to manufacturing defect, so he's on his own to replace it. Then two weeks later his Passport gets the driver's window busted out....so now 2 vehicles need window work in 2 weeks. They've got $500 deductable.....and USAA forces them to make 2 separate claims and pay $500 for each....thus they ended up getting $250 from USAA in the end after repairs.
Now if they were people to make claims frequently, this wouldn't bother me so much....but they've been on USAA for at least a good 20 years and only spent 1 year of that non on USAA. This is maybe their third claim in the entire time, maybe even only the 2nd time....I'm not sure, but no more than 3rd (assuming the 2 windows are 1 claim). USAA coulda at least worked with them considering the thousands my parents have paid over the years. Those bastards.
My best friends parents only pay for liability basically, and they just save the money so they can cover anything comprehensive or collision out of pocket. I'm thinking of going the same route.....when I can afford it a little bit more. But if I were to have too much damage to my baby now, I'd be flat outta luck.

I think I am getting jacked by them.
The two major differences between you and me could be coverage and location.
I'm not sure how your coverage is, but I'd like higher coverage than what I've got now.....
I'm not sure just where you live. Technically I live within city limits, thus my insurance rates are probably higher for that reason. Also it may be more expensive to insure in Austin, TX than where you are. Also the Accord is a more frequently stolen car.
These are just possibilities. It doesn't change the fact that they're ramming me where no straight man wants to be rammed.

the integra is the #1 stolen car in america. location does have alot to do with it also. i think that's probably why, too.

I was pretty sure that the early 90s camrys were the most stolen... oh well:rolleyes:
I think Im paying 3600/year with some little company that my parents do business with... Madden and Powell Insurance, I think... anyways I just turned 17, 3 tickets (rolling stop, speeding, expired registration), but none on record... anyways Im driving an '01 Highlander that was about 29k, and am also insured for my moms '01 BMW 325ci, so that probably bumps up the rate a bit... oh yeah I can also drive my parents entire fleet of pickup trucks and SUVs that work for them and still be covered... hmm 3600 doesnt sound so bad any more:D

It is true that location has a lot to do with it, but here is a direct quote from State Farm's website....
Which cars are stolen most often?
According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) the popularity of mini vans, pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) is making them an increasingly attractive target for thieves.
The NICB, using data reported by its member insurance companies, has compiled a list of the 10 vehicles most frequently reported stolen in the U.S. in 1998. That top 10 includes:
1. Honda Accord
2. Toyota Camry
3. Oldsmobile Cutlass
4. Chevrolet full-size pickup
5. Honda Civic
6. Toyota Corolla
7. Jeep Cherokee
8. Chevrolet Caprice
9. Ford Taurus
10. Chevrolet Cavalier
