help! ;( recently i've been having some problems w/ family and cars... soo basically to make a long story short, i have to buy a new(used) car. my question is what is the HP on the hatchbacks? because i used to have a 2001 accord v6 lx, *sigh* 200HP but i'm looking into a hatchback. any recommendations for what to choose? (i'm stuck looking at a 1999 or a 2001 hatch)

thnx

i'd say 2001 hatch. most trims are around 120-135 hp stock.
i love the new styling for the civics so thats why i'd say 2001.

btw. welcome to the club.

say i did get the 2001 hatch, what would be the best way to upgade it to something faster? what's best engine swap for it? considering i wont swap anytime soon since this'll drain my money, but still i want more power. 120-135hp just isnt the same...

in a civic i'd say a B18C5 would be pretty decent. H22A if you aren't racing autocross. both will get you near 200hp. the b18 is slightly less but less weight also.

check the hybrid tech forum for a list of some of the honda engines code and details.

2001 doesn't have a hatch guys... and 2002 the only hatch is the 160 hp SI

get a an old hatchback Si......125 HP stock. if not, just get a cheap HB and drop a B-series engine.

dx is bottom line... not sure what cx is, but hx is the new gas saving technology... supposed to get like 45+ miles to the gallon.
ex and lx are the upper trim levels. hx is about middle of the road.

Ok, so if you are talking 96-00 hatches, there are two models: DX and CX. CX is the strip down version that really doesn't have a whole lot of options. The DX is the "upper" model with more options. They both made 106 hp. The HX never came in a hatchback form, and the only thing different with the HX (besides it's 115 hp engine) is the transmission. It's a CVT transmission. EX and LX were also coupe/sedan models only. If you are talking 92-95 the models were CX, VX, DX, Si (in that order from lowest to highest). CX had 70 hp, VX had 92 hp, DX had 102 hp, Si had 125. The VX was the lightest, had an Economy VTEC to save gas. DX was the only one to come in an automatic form also. The Si was the only one to have power windows and a sunroof standard.

Dude, I noticed the other guy tellin gou what the differences were between the cx and dx models, but I can tell you completely, besides all the engine specs he gave you. The 96-98 hatches have no tach in either models, whereas the 99-00 styles have a tach in the DX model only. The DX has a rear wiper in the 96-98 style and in both models for 99-00. Also in 96-00, the DX has a painted spoiler, wheel covers, power steering, a factory cd player, a hatchcover, intermittant wipers, and I think one more thing but I can't remember. I hope this helps?
