Painting your valve cover?

I know I should just go buy one but I want to paint mine I'm not sure what color yet but does anyone know what type of Paint will work good for the high temps in the engine? And all so what kind of sand paper should i use to get the original paint off? I just don't want to make it look like S#$@ when I'm done. Thanks

1200 temp paint works fine......i didnt sand mine, just cleaned it with degreaser and then painted. paint has stuck for over 3.5yrs no problems.
