why does honda have to make it so diffcult to work on their cars ? i was taking my engine mount out this morning and guess what ? it took me the hole morning just to get 2 screws out. it was a fairly easy job until i got to the bottom screw when i relised that i have to turn it from the right side of the mount, where all the cooling and oil lines are. it took me 3 hours just to have the thing unscrewed, when very simple it could have been put on the left side of the mount and in 5 minutes out, done, kaput. i wonder how the mechanics are dealing with crap like this. oh boy !! . i'll put in on thursday or friday after the custom mount dries out. and i wonder what am i gonna run into this time ?

sorry for the long post but i needed to vent it out

its cause we have compact cars. i knwo what you mean, i have needed to get my hand under the intake manifold to grab a droped screw because i didnt have enough room by the TB. thats was definitaly a pain

i work do a mentorship at a mechanics and i can tell you hondas arent the hardest to work on. if the engineers who design the cars had to fix them it would be a whole different story.

Sounds like you guys just need the right tool for the job. i have no problems at all. If you want a pain is the ass work on an Eclipse.

Go change the spark plugs on a LT1 F-Body and then complain. That hurts just thinking about it.

is the trans am a v6 or v8. i know on some v6 gm's the plugs are accesible only from underneath the car.

what i was saying is that if the screws were from the other side i wouldn't have any complains about it. anyway it was easy but a full morning just to take 2 screws out is a lot of pain.

i put the mount back in today and it took me less than one hour. i took the car for a testdrive and it seems ok, not a lot better than begor but i did not notice major engine movement in the bay. also i do not have any wheel hop when trying to move on wet asphalt. i gunned the mofo to the redline, and no hop. i guess that's a good sign.

one more question thou: does it make any difference if i do not have the heat shield on my manifold ? i really don't feel like putting it back on if there are no downsides of that.

put the heat shield on or you might melt your fan
