Are there special shocks for lowered cars? I just bought KYB AGX's and the instructions say that they are for stock height cars but you can use them on a car thats been lowered by 1.5". Mines been lowered by 2". Can I use these or do I need special ones?

i dont think they will blow unless they are trash shocks. ive heard that Koni yellows can take up to 3" or so and not blow.

With AGX, if you drop more than 1.5, the guaranty will be void. If the actual drop is around 1.8, you dont need to worry.

If you have springs that claim to lower 2 inches, then you should try to return them or something.. Cause the springs will actually settle lower than what they claim.

a good setup is the GC/KYB AGX combo, not as good as koni yellows but they get the job done - from what ive heard.

Do you think the Koni yellow's can handle a lower drop? I have Progress lowering springs and I went to their website and for the civic its saying the drop is 2.3".

Yes, the yellows will take just about whatever you throw at them. Very nice struts.

even the koni reds will handle the drop - if you dont need the adjustability of the koni yellows.

I went ahead and put on the AGX's. The handling has been greatly improved! Later on when I swap out the engine I'm gonna go ahead and get a coilover system and be done with it. I got the AGX's for cheap and I figure they'll last me until I do the engine swap. Thanks though. Who knows maybe these will be ok on my car. I think the shock companies recommend only dropping your car 1.5" so they don't have to honor their warranties and save money. Cause who drops there car only 1 and a half inch?

Let me rephrase that: Most people don't lower their car only 1.5":)
