Ok boys and girls---
I want to swap in a Integra type-R into my 2000 Civic. What are some ups and downs of this. I figured that if I am going to swap in another motor it better be the best cause I only want to worry about this once. So everybody that knows swapping better then me get those little gerbils in your heads turning and give me some pointers!!!
Thanx guys for the info

i too followed the same logic....go for the best and now i own an '01 B18C5. ups: most hp of the B-series engines, prestigue, high revving right out of the box, mild hand port and polished head stock, simple drop in, lots of aftermarket support (there are even turbo kits from HKS and Apexi' in japan), lots of JDM stuff. downs: high compression limits the FI capabilities making it almost exclusively a NA engine, price, H22A power but no H22A torque (its all about the revs tho)! bottom line its a badass engine IMHO

i think that the type r motor is a good choice because of the extras already comming with the motor....but for much less an ls/vtec would produce mad power...gsr would cost a lot less tooh and the extra hundreds you would be saving would go towards some good mods....

Ok how about this, I just found a civic type-r for about $1500. that sounds pretty good, but I am not sure that the engine will be worth it(not taken car of)-does anyone have any experience with japan motors that are shipped from over seas???

$1500 for a b16b??? from where? with papers? how many miles? that price seems unbelieveable. they go for only $1000 less than a B18C5 most of the time or the same price.

B18C5: $4900-$5500
B16B: $4800-$5500
usually the B16B goes for $1000 less than the B18C5. so that price just doesnt seem right at all - $1500.
thats like B16A1 price. and those are older.
