Ok, so we've all probably been on the cookie cutter first date, dinner and a movie, right? Not that there's anything wrong with dinner and a movie, but it's kind of a been there, done that situation. Well, I just want to see what ideas you guys and girls have for a first date. I'm not going on any first dates anytime soon (that I know of), but just for the future I'd like to have some cool ideas in mind. :)

amusement park, water park, regular parks (ya know swing sets, jungle gyms ect.)...I have a thing with parks..I dunno. I dig guys with sense of humors (I wasn't really sure where to pluaralize that at) so I like a guy who can act like a little kid every once in a while. Road trips...nothing makes you have a convo like being "stuck" in a car together. Drive-ins, driving range. Ok now i have a thing with parks and driving....I have issues!

Is there a girl who doesn't want a guy with a sense of humor?
I'd vote dinner and a movie. Haha, j/k. Well, not totally....but it is the obvious date, as stated.
If the timing works out, I'd say dinner and a play, or dinner and a symphony...unfortunately, though, good plays/symphonies aren't always going on. Maybe you'll even need to have a road trip to get to a bigger city to enjoy it? :) Maybe dinner and a nice jaz bar, or a good comedy club. I guess they all involve dinner....but dinner isn't really a necessity. It's just nice to make a whole evening out of it.
For a cheap date. Taco Bell & frisbee.

Comedy Clubs are great..
Start off with a nice dinner, then go to the Comedy Club, the club will give you something to talk about afterwards.. Then If your both up for it, go on a walk some where and get to know eachother a little better.

Yeah, comedy club is a cool idea! I'm always watching the comedians on the Comedy Central shows like Premium Blend and stuff. I love to laugh! I like bowling, I'm not very good at it, but it's always fun to make an a** out of yourself and be able to laugh about it!

I had sex with a chick in a park! It was crazy:D ;) Seriously though, I think the movies is the most anti social place you can take a girl on a first date. I mean, you want to get to know the girl right? So why take her to a place where you spent about 2 hours in silence? Just a thought. I like to take her to the beach.

I'll start from the top....Foreman Grill? Those things are frikkin fire hazards. Or at least the old ones, with no temperature control...the first time I used one, I just couldn't believe my chicken was cooked in 2 minutes....crazy stuff.
Girls...hmmm...some of 'em are clingy, some of 'em aren't. I usually find that I'm the one wanting to spend time with them....except for this one girl I dated for a while, I wanted to spend time with her and all, but I didn't realize that she wanted to spend so much time with me.....and I think it frustrated her, I just didn't know she was taking things as seriously as she was. If I had known...well, who knows what woulda changed in my life.
Most relationships are expensive, though. I just wanna find a girl who'll let me be a cheap ass and not get pissed at me! :D

You guys and gals are from the US. I'm up in TO Canada. All the girls I've dated get the royal treatment. The downside to that is that they expect the world and a half. Most are very materialistic up here. I thought I found a laidback, tell you like it is...girl. She didn't like the treatment. I sent roses on her birthday....Valentines Day was 2 weeks later and sent balloons and her favorite blue roses (something different). She blew me off like I didn't exist.

the balloons and flowers are thoughtful and all...and I'd accept them from a guy don't get me wrong. But most girls that tend to reject the "typical" gifts are looking for more sentimental gifts. Like an inside joke sorta thing. Something that shows you pay attention to her when she is talking and when she is around you. Or ask her friends what kind of stuff she is in to if you aren't sure. Like if there is something that she really really wants but won't fork out the $$ for it, and you want to get something to shock the hell out of her...get it for her. Of course she can't react 2 ways with that though. Be extremely happy or get mad at you cuz she wanted to buy that thing for herself. But you gotta get presents and what not that show that you pay attention to her.

I really never knew her that long. I went to go see her play hockey and she didn't know I was there...but told her that she shouldn't have taken that penalty...just so that she would know that I went. I thought that that was considerate (or was that stalking HAHA) It was an out of the blue break off. Not breakup, break off. Everything seemed to be going OK, then boom, she told me I really don't need this in my life.......and gone. OH well back on the horse. Maybe this isn't a typical case...and i would never let this hinder the next one. Well that my exprience

That's got to be the worst freek'n thing I've ever heard.....
Sometimes we go out (us single guys....the guys that are dating are too scared to do this) and play games at night clubs. We will bet $20 that I can't buy that (my friends pic) girl a drink or her number. Just makes it for a good night... We play alot of different games. My one buddy and I would bring a $100 bill to the bar. I would go up to a girl and say "My buddy bet me $100 I couldn't buy you a drink" They usually say OK. My buddy sees that and walks over and hands me the $100 then it's his turn....... Who ever brought the $100 obviously leaves with it........This always works... I walked out with 4 numbers that night and my buddy with 6

I think the only "real" first date I ever had was a cool one.
I was gonna go to a car show that day, and I told her I'd pick her up that night after the car show for dinner, walking around Downtown Disney because she had never been the the ESPN Zone. Well, she said she liked cars and so I took her to the car show and it was pretty cool. Never really got too far with her though because of my stupidity.
Being single can be cool.......I'm usually single, sometimes have a girlfriend once every few years......but I like my freedom and I'm not ready to get totally serious until I'm done with college, plus girls cost money and I wouldn't be able to spend money on my car and my computer!

Ok I have to correct Erin. I didn't kindly tell him to leave her alone. I was quite blunt and b**chy about it. I was sick of hearing her complain about him, i was sick of lookin at his skinny weird sorry a$$ hangin around her like a lost puppy dog. He picks the prettiest one in the group to tell her that he's desperate. pathetic! No one was having a good time that night until after I told him to basicallly "f**k off". I felt bad for doing it cuz there were other guys around probably thinking "Damn what a huge b**ch, i'm not gonna talk to her" but it was the only way the guy got the hint. He would have kept buggin her/us all night if he could have.
Oh and If a guy walked up to me and said that his friend bet him $100 to buy me a drink....hell yah I'd accept it. I hate payin for my drinks all the time at the bar. Even though I know the "trick" now I'll still accept the free drink! :bandit:

So, he goes back over to his friend and then comes back over to me again and asks if I can just give him a fake # so he won't look dumb in front of his friend. :D :D But I did go along with it and gave him a fake #. :D

I was at this party.. and my freind bugs me to go and pick up this chick he was trying to hook up with, So i finially agreed and we get their and she's really cute, we get intro'ed and he's talking all this stuff ... i'm just driving didn't say to much at all.. didn't know anything about her, she didn't know anything about me... we we get to the party , Shes standing next to me, I'm sitting on a kitchen chair, talking to a freind of mine thats a gurl ... My freind asks if that's my girlfreind... I kinda didn't even reliaze she was thier... but I look up and she's looking at me ... and I just put my arm around her waste and say... Yeah this is my gurlfriend Angie... and pulled her into my Lap.... It was really cool... she played along and we made up a story about how we met. We hooked up.
I think that was the only gurl I dated for a bit that I didn't know in some fashion. Not much of a pick up line ... sorry .

Talking about giving out fake numbers.....in Toronto you can call a number to see what time the next bus is.... I know a girl that memorized the number of the Young St. Bus number and gave that out....Imagine calling and hearing the "The next bus will be there in 5 minutes.....
What a hoot

I thought of another good first date while I was riding my mtn bike today. Unfortunately I don't know that every city/town/place what have you has one of these types of places. Ours is called City Island. and there is batting cages and trails to walk on and there is a baseball team that plays there. It's just chill and fun. I also thought of those sporting places where you can go driving (like golfing not cars) and go karts and stuff like that.

Water Parks! I think water parks would be a cool place to go for a first date. I love water parks, and as long as you're not all weird about being in a bathing suit in front of this person for the first time, then you should have fun! Just be careful on some of those slides....they can give you one heck of a wedgie!

Erin I can't believe you were the one to mention water parks. And if you did have an issue with them seeing you in your bikini/one piece what have you then all you'd have to do is wear a t-shirt over top and just say you didn't want to get burnt :D . Oh and the fix for the wedgie thing....and NO Rob thong isn't gonna be my answer....only ride on the slides that you go down in an inner-tube raft thing. That's what I do ;)

Believe it or not, I was actually picked up by a guy who said, 'so, I'm washing my car tonight, would you like to come and help me?' and it actually worked. We detailed his car for about two hours, and it was really cool because we really got to know eachother. Seriously, try anything where you can get to know eachother, even go carting is fun!! I would ask a girl to marry me if we went racing and that turned her crank (no pun intended). If she went racing with me then she just might leave me alone when I want to watch football on Sundays. HAHA. If she can cook that's all I need.

PS. Is there that many imports in Sk.
LadyCivic
06-10-2002, 10:40 PM
Oh theres a few nice imports here, but unfortunatly living in the middle od redneck saskatchewan, there is alot of poorly done imports as well. Needless to say, there are alot of very well done cars, like my boyfriend who has a turbo charged MX-6, there's a few turbo Honda's around, a CRX in particular, and the dude from this site, Dereks Civic is from the same city as I am. Ah, we have a crappy track to test your quarter mile but it's gravel road to get to it, you know, it does the trick but it ain't nothin special. Oh yes I would add that I can cook, and yes I don't care if wanna watch foot ball, and yes of course I love it when boys race!! (kinda sucks sitting shot in quarter mile time with a 4 banger though)

Drifting f***ing rules!! (If you stay in control) Hey, it could be a good thing losing control too, as by BF hit a curb and broke something (can't remember what) and while the car was broken he decided it was the opportune time to turbo charge it.... while he had it apart in the garage anyway. Yes I love it when guys drive nice.... how about I call it marriage material when a guy knows how to drive....

Ok heres the deal, I would totally dig a guy if he drove a really nice import, did all his work on it himself, and then for fun we went street racing and totally stomped on some gay ass sunfire or mustang, and then after we do that, he could take me out for ice cream. Total husband material. Any girl who can't appreciate a nice ride and recognize that all domestic cars are for Grandma's who don't know any better, (even thought my Grandma dives a Civic) isn't worth calling for a second date, that is if you wasted your time on a first!! Trust me, there ARE girls out there who know better, and better yet, there are girls I'm sure with sweet cars that would like to take YOU street racing..... And yes I've asked my boyfriend to come and wash my car with me for something to do, I think i enjoy it more than he does, we spent four days straight working on my car together.

And he was like I'm not as old as I said I was. He was like take about a yr off that. Meaning he was 17 at the time. Now I don't give the guy the time of day...not cuz he's that much younger than me...but because he lied to me. And he did look older. Guys always do. I am in agreement with the ice cream and not the coffee, because I work at a coffee shop, and I would not want to be taken on a date there, there are too many crazy people!!! i think its just hard to meet someone whos interested in the similar things. When you think abuot it wheres a good place to meet a nice girl (or a nice guy if your a girl)? see theres no place to meet a nice person and know that they are nice when you meet them. I figured i'd meet a good girl in highschool, well ive said F*ck highschool girls, gonna go after the bigger fish in the sea.
I meet alot of people at work and have yet to meet someone who rides a bike alot and whos also a *****. So i'm hopping i'm gonna meet my girl that way. If she likes riding a bike shes got alot in common and it would make for an interesting first date, riding together that is. (just thought of that on the fly there) I'd love to take a girl for a bike ride oh oh and then off to DQ for a treat :) (i'm learning girls)
add this to the list of first dates: a bike ride :)

I agree. The places I like to go (dance clubs, bars, I don't go to too many bars) aren't exactly the places I like to find Mr. Right. You can never tell what kind of guy he is, and I automatically assume that if he's at a dance club or bar, he's there to see how many chicks he can get with. Now that may not be the case, cause I know I'm not there to see how many guys I can get with, but it's hard to tell if he's a decent guy.
LadyCivic
06-18-2002, 08:41 PM
Hey I totally second the motion of NOT picking up people in bars and etc, because their usually hammered and are only out to score. I met my BF through a friend, essentially, and any other men that I've dated I have met doing things that interest me. I think bike riding is an excellent idea, for a date, but maybe something a little more talkative would be a better idea. Hey, you could talk while you two have a break getting ice cream.... yes yes, we all know about the ice cream!!! Boys, why not try to meet girls by going to places where girls chill out?? Go get a manicure at a salon or something and I bet there will be tons of girls there, actually pretty impressed you're concerned about your nailbeds after all that crap you put them through working on the car!!;)

LadyCivic
06-19-2002, 07:26 PM
Good luck finding a nice boy, they're rare! I think something a little less strenuous would be better if you were asking someone on a date that you barely knew. Something that almost anyone would enjoy just to be safe, and make sure that everyone has a good time. Good luck taking someone to a race track if they hate cars!! Something neutral is best, and something that encourages conversation. Why not go and have you r tea leaves read, go on a hot air balloon ride, or go to a local play or event around town?
DsBlu01CivEX
06-20-2002, 01:52 PM
Diggin the hot air balloon ride  that would be awesome. but the one thing I think is cool for a first date is to have like a day long date and split it in 2. Like if he's a very active outdoorsy type person, then the first part of the date he can take you to do something that he loves to do. and then the second part of the date you can show him something that you love to do. Granted you might go into the date thinking "UGH I really don't want to _____ but hey he seems like a cool guy, I'll give it a try" And then you end up loving (or totally hating) what he showed you were his passions. It's good to share that stuff and try to get one another interested in it. If it doesn't work out that you or he likes what the other does but a relationship is persued anyway, then either person would still have an outlet to just get away and do what only they love when they need time away from their significant other.

If it doesn't work out that you or he likes what the other does but a relationship is persued anyway, then either person would still have an outlet to just get away and do what only they love when they need time away from their significant other.
Thats an amazing idea, i would recommend making this the second date though as getting to know the person well enough to want to spend half a day with them is a must.
One problem where do you find a girl that likes the outdoors as much as i do without getting a guy in a chicks body?

Diggin the hot air balloon ride  that would be awesome. but the one thing I think is cool for a first date is to have like a day long date and split it in 2. Like if he's a very active outdoorsy type person, then the first part of the date he can take you to do something that he loves to do. and then the second part of the date you can show him something that you love to do. 100% agreed.. I am so tired of those standard first dates. People need to get more creative cuz it just gets lame, and dont ask me for an example cuz I can't come up with one yet! ;)

Seriously, if a guy has the qualities that I find appealing, he could take me anywhere, even to a park for a picnic and it would be just as awsome as anything else.

I actually found a girl at a pool hall a couple days ago. SHE LOVES CARS which is amazing. Never met someone that loves cars as much as I do. I think I might keep this girl for a while, (hopfully).

Yes you are quite good enough to go to the Vette show with. But the only thing is....you aren't quite as passionate as I am about them...nor would you be able to teach me anything about them. But hell if you're willin to go....
