I Need tips on how to make my car fast for cheap!

Ok i have a 95' honda civic vtec i have a lota looks but i need the speed so i need to know how i can make it fast without spending a fortune?:)

Best way to increase power for the money is to get an engine swap or slap on a turbo...

i like the paxton superchargers for the hondas. i have seen a few and they won't even void your warranty if you have one.

if you're not trying for a turbo, go the normal exhaust/intake/header route. not too bad of a way to go!

At 75hp shot installed for $850
$11.33 dollars per HP

of course I lost this discussion

Hi flow muffler w/ custom bent 2.5" Pipe

You should get 20 hp outa that alone
Headers help but thier $500 and a lot harder to install

Not to contradict, but I/E is worth about 7-10hp if you're lucky, maybe not even that.

A header will run around $350 if you get a DC stainless.

If you have intake and exhaust already, maybe another 5-6hp. I've seen quite a few dyno runs in magazines and whatnot, and the I/H/E package should get you 10-15hp total.

hmm... would you ever slap on a turbo with stock everything else?? im talkin like a greddy mild turbo not some insane beast:eek:

cause if you could... i'd seriously consider putting a turbo as first mod next car...

Even though right now , I have neither :no:

I think I'm just use to talking about bigger displacement engines, it seems in all the stats of dyno's I find, larger engine respond better to intake, exhaust, and headers.
Example... SCC newest issue w/ the 240/Silvia on the Cover, They got 11hp out of a Greddy cat back and AEM CAI. That was on thier 6 cyclinder Eclipse though, I'm sure a 1.6 Honda will get less...

But your stretch of saying 7-10 hp "if your lucky" is as bad as my stretch of saying 20... well maybe not quite as bad .

At least all the ads say you get 10-15 hp a peice.

When your up late at night do you believe all of the info-mercials too, cause most of them are crap. Same as the ads. Also the companys that produce these parts measure Hp at the flywheel usualy so your not going to see everything that they say. Sorry to burst your bubble;)

junk yard = GSR engine. junk yard= you can find most of the parts for a custom turbo kit there. ebay= you own a honda, EVERYONE owns a honda so theres lots of used parts for cheap..

that was a quote from hahn racecraft but i thought it would suit the question very well. turboing is far cheaper for the hp gains than anything else.

too be honest you have a point with the nitrous. but look at it this way. my turbo works everyday all day..nos is only at a push of a button. my turbo was 2900$. i will not spend another cent on it for the rest of my life (if i wanted to remain stage II). however, nos requires refills and last i checked they arent at all cheap. so you could end up paying far more than any mod in the long run....

yes, you have refills, plus you have to use 93 Octane Gas, from then on, so It does have future cost.

But, NOS is only when you Want it, so it's not really causes engine wear. I don't care how much arguing you do, you can't convince me that a engine under constant compression is going to last as long and run as well as a N/A engine, and if your not using your NOS button for everything and Parking, then having NOS is almost like having N/A ... So thier is cost involved in that too

It all depends on what your looking for.... I just want a button to push for when some Punk pulls up next to me at the light. Rest of the time i'm Grandma Jones...

How much HP and torque Gain do you typically get out of a standard Turbo set up anyway, I beilve it's more than a nitrious shot ?? right ??
