When should the timing belt be replaced in a 6th gen. What is "recommended" and when should I actually do it? Are there signs of a bad timing belt, or will it just give out without notice? I have about 45k miles and pretty much keep up w/ maintanance.

IIRC it's recommended to be done in the 105k service, or whichever service is closest to that.
Usually one would say to change it at 90k for a Honda. You can follow the maintenance schedule, or you can request that it's done earlier than that.
I'm not aware of any signs that a timing belt is getting bad without looking at it, however someone else may be able to shed some more light on that.

I haven't yet checked my manual, but wow, 105k is a long times away. I hope thats right. I can spend the $300 elsewhere.;)

Honda recommended it for my car @ 90k... I wouldn't wait any longer than that.

i did it at 112k miles and that was because the water pump was going bad. anyway the belt did not have any signs of wear on it. Yes i had the car @90k

I too had my timing belt done at 90k, just like everyone else has said, i would not suggest going too much longer than that.

Just checked the owner's manual. Timing belt is part of 105k maintenance schedule, along with balancer belt (4cyl), and inspection of water pump (I'd probably get it replaced anyways, since engine's already cracked open).
