When I bought my car the back window was all blury and you could not see out the back (at least clearly), turns out there used to be a tint on it and whoever took it off fudged it up pretty bad. Anywaym after paying 500 through Honda to get a replacement (not to mention 100 for installation), I now want to tint all my windows. Anyone recommend a percentage tint, or what I should go for. I want it pretty dark.

Well, I'd just get some dark tint all around... maybe 10ish% Or you could keep the front windows less tinted, depending on how legal you want to be.

I want to have all windows the same tint, but as dark as they can be legal wise. Any recommendations on where I should take my car in?

In Ohio we can only have 50% tint. I like black windows, but I won't be doing it. I have enough issues with members of law enforcement. I might go for the 38% stuff though......

Well, just look up your state's laws, and take it to a shop and they'll set you up. Try to get recommendations from friends for a good shop so you know they'll do a good job.

About tinting it yourself...
It seems that people who tint themselves generally get good results that turn bad in a short time. I've seen that on some friends' cars. 4jacks, maybe you're just really good at it, had you done it before?
You can get it professionally done for around $150, which is what I'd do...

Likewise. That way I have someone else to blame if the lifetime tint goes bad.

Yeah, I have a hard time seeing out of the back of my car, especially at night. That's something to consider when buying tint. If you say legal, you'll be fine though.
BTW, my tint isn't legal for my state, and though I've been pulled over for other things, I've never had it mentioned on this car. I was told to remove it on my GTi though, but just a verbal warning.

I've done it twice now.
I haven't had any experience with Tint before, but have done Pinstriping and Decals... which I guess Are Kinda Close...
Have you seen the people who drive around and thier tint looks like swiss cheese ???? That looks like Ass. My orginal plan was ... I can't afford to get tinted... It's $200-$250 in my area... And I NEED at least an Eyebrow... to block out the sun...
So I spent $12 on a roll of %20 and decided to give it a shot..
If it looked like Ass.. I was going rip it off!
My first try SUCKED mad buttocks... so I ripped it off and cooled my nerves down... cuase it's friggin frustrating..
I had one more shot with the tint left ! so I pulled into the shade and tried to get away from any wind and something just clicked.
It became REALLY easy. I did the Eyebrow and it looked so Tight... So I measured up and I just Squeked the two rear side windows with the left over %20 . These were the easiest!
the next day I went and got a roll of %35 my legal... and did the two side windows...
Over all I was extremely happy
I need to redo
the Eyebrow.... Cuase I followed the directions and didn't cover the black bubbles
and the drivers side window.. I F'ed up the Corner.
If you stand 2 feet away it looks professionally done...
Their is one hair in the back passenger side... that you really don't notice unless I point it out... maybe I'll redo that one.
My wifes turned out better than mine.
Sorry I typed so long... Maybe when I do it again.. I'll take some pictures and type up a good "How To"

I know it's a little odd... but Cops dont like me... or I'd go %20 all the way around... I think %20 is a good middle ground... you have to get up real close to see in and everything is still visible at night

I'm telling you it's worth a try !!!
but OverAll $200 on something that will last the life of the car and gives all the benefits of Tint... and Looks Sweet... Is a Good value

J
you can come down 4" on the Eyebrow
70% on the front side windows .... that's wicked Weak
you can put anything on the rear sides and rear
NO MIRROR TINT
No RED tint No AMBER tint
that's all the important stuff
TT I got mine at Western Auto a brand called ANSO I think ... they have different grades of it..
I got my wifes at WALMART that was a different brand but I liked the Western Auto Stuff a little better.. went on smooth
The thing with the rear is that you will need to have a seem becuase it's so large... try to make the seam on one of the defrost lines... NEVER USE THE RAZOR ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW. Seams are a little tricky

WOOHOO! Another Ohioan!!
Colored tint is not illegal. Mirrored tint is illegal. According to Ohio law, window must must not increase the reflectivity more than 20%. I'm no engineer but I'd be willing to guess that the mirror tint well exceeds this limit....
Where are you from btw.....?

I've got a 94 Civic with an unnoticeable seam..
I guess it depends on the size of the tint

Hmmm...... The largest roll of tint I've seen in the stores is like 2'6" ... that means your going need a seem ... I also had a seem on my Probe.. but that was a Hatch with a HUGE arse window... maybe the pro's can get larger rolls of tint .. I dunno ... but DIY you'll have a Seem
Or maybe you do have a Seem but it was done so well you don't know it's thier !

No seam. I sat in their bay and watched them do the tint job....one piece. So maybe they get bigger rolls.
One question....why does everybody want such dark tint? Is it for looks, to keep prying eyes out, or to keep the heat out.
For looks, darkness is a matter of opinion, thus to each his own. If you're doing a tint job yourself and are tinting the front window (and care about legality), then make sure you don't come down too far. For '01 Accords, at least, there's a line on the windshield marking the furthest down you can put tint, I think it's labeled ASA (not sure on that one), and is a very small black line about 1/4" or less, about 5" from the top. This is the legal limit for Texas, although I'm not sure about other states. If you don't care about legality....while not recommendedl, it's your own prerogative.
For prying eyes....if driving, dark tint keeps eyes out....if parked, he who wants to see in your car will see in your car. Some theives consider tint+alarm to be a way of hiding something worth stealing.
For heat...a high performance tint will cut out much more heat at a higher light transmission level than a low grade tint will. This will be especially applicable if you're tinting yourself and buying tint at Wal-Mart. :)
