Well I finally put my ignition in. Suprisingly enough it went off without a hitch. Thank to GSRwBOOST for the mounting ideas.

My only complaint is that its loud. Why you ask? Well the 6AL itself is mounted on the passenger's side floor board. You can see it HERE (http://www.siscom.net/~jdoles/thesi.html) . Is it supposed to make that clicking/ticking noise? I expected some noise, but this damn near makes me not want to drive. The reason its in the cabin is because the box is HUGE. There's pretty much no other choice.

Anyhow, I've come up with a couple of options.

1. Buy a different model and mount it in the engine bay. Anyone know if the MSD Sport Compact ignition is smaller?

2. Design some sort of enclosure to dampen the sound. I found that putting my coat over it helps alot. Not real sure what I'd use.

I hate to lose the Soft Touch Rev limiter. Once you hit the 8000 mark (that's the chip I have in it), you know it for sure. But I'll sacrifice it if I have to.

Anyhow, any ideas on this are appreciated.

Ok sure.

I did some more looking. The SCI is the same size as the 6AL & they have a new SCI-L that has the limiter on it. I can't figure out the differences though. They look like they are the same, but different colors.

I think I'm gonna see if I can't find some sheet metal and maybe make a bracket or something.....

how come you don't have any room in the engine bay ? did u look for a spot on the firewall in the engine bay ? i have lots of space there, but mine is a slow ass accord

i've seen people put it right on the firewall, even saw someone put it on the passenger side behind the headlight on the fender part

This "thing" is 8"x4"x2.25" (LxWxH). So its no small deal. The bolts on the anti-vibration mounts aren't self tapping either.

On the positive side, the car starts better, the shifts seem smoother, & idle is very smooth.

I jsut did some looking and found out that the SCI-L is the same size as the 6AL. As far as I can can tell the SCI-L doesn't add anything or have any benefits over the 6AL. Looks like I'm going to have to get creative....

Hmm.. With those huge heat sink looking things you would think itd get smoking hot.;) I was gonna say you could make a cage to go around it and put a cooling fan in it to keep it cool. Youd probably hear the humming of the fan a little. You could even do a plexi-glass surround for it.
