View Full Version : H22 Question
Who Needs VTEC?
02-27-2002, 06:12 PM
On JDM1.com they're selling H22's for $2300 I think. I know they don't come with a tranny, but is it possible for it to link up to my current automatic?

2300 buys you the engine and the manual tranny??
how much is install on that biatch? 500-700?
if so a quick 3k will turn any accord auto into a decent street machine.
i thought the 2300 was for the engine alone. so why is a b18c like another 1000 for just the engine?? or am i wrong?

also it changed from a 2.2 litre to 2.6 litre..producin 160lb/ft of torque....and after some mods (too lazy to read) he's gettin 220hp & 180lb/ft of torque at the wheels.....

i guess it's a bigger demand for b18c's, and civics are getting more swaps than the accords that's why.

Who Needs VTEC: Yes, that includes a manual transmission and all accessories. However, I find all of these Internet places overpriced. I can put you in touch with several places that would sell you the engine for well under $2000 US (plus shipping, of course).
Maxvla: It's just supply and demand... Here's another example. The '89-91 B16a goes for around $1300 CDN, while the '92-'96 b16a goes for nearly $3000 CDN. The newer engine is perceived to be better, so the price is higher. Both produce 160 hp, and a '91 is going to have similar mileage as a '92.
NooNz: The Accord in SCC has an insane amount of work done to it. His best time is in the low 13's actually... I can find a few references to 13.3's on slicks, but I can't find any trap speeds right now. His name on most message boards is 2point6.

They're 40-50k engines.... I was definetly set on getting my swap there before I decided not to continue with the Accord. I've heard good things about those shops from several satisfied customers.

No, they don't have a website.
Don't worry about calling... I don't speak French very well and I had no trouble communicating with them.

no ones really answered his question, and i also wanna know, cuz i recent got a 96 accord lx auto .parents knew i needed a car so they sold me this one for 3k (they got them selves a minivan) pretty damn good cuz it has under 80k miles on it. i was planning to get a 94 integra but that cost ~ 6k.
the reason i want the h22a is cuz the accord is pretty damn slow, ill spend say about 1k just on i/h/e and it then itll be at maybe 150hp (if im lucky).

The answer is yes: F and H series engines and transmissions are interchangeable. You can use an Accord tranny with a Prelude motor or a Prelude tranny with an Accord motor. You will only extract the best performance, however, by using the tranny that is most appropriate for the engine.
With regards to the Accord auto, it will be put under more strain by the more powerful engine and will die sooner (but not immediately). I know a guy with an H22 connected to his car's original '91 auto transmission, and it's still going strong a year after his swap.

and let me add that the accord tranny is geared for fuel savings, not for speed
