I saw the most disgusting thing a few days ago. A '97 Supra, mint condition AUTOMATIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is wrong with these people, sugar momma wants a fast car but can barely drive it! #1 She was ugly. If she was hot, I wouldnt have been so upset #2 I never asked her but im assuming its an after market tranny. Toyota would never make an auto supra, or at least I hope not.
I almost came to tears
Anyone else seen garbage like this?

i guess that is kind of a sad thing, but of course it makes sense. Everything revolves around money, and thats the way it is. I wasnt commenting on toyota as much as my disgust with this lady. She should have gotten a Oldsmobile or something if she cant drive standard. *** forbid if she prefers it

How do you know she can't drive a manual? Why are you knocking people down for driving autos? I don't, but plenty of people here do. Autos can be made to go very fast also if they have a strong tranny.

Hmmmm, is there something in particular that you don't like about the look? The front of the car? The shape? The rear? The lights?
just wondering.

Thought i would give my .02 the auto supra are faster in the quarter mile if not faster only slower by .1-.05 seconds and give more consistant times cause theres on human error to be had. Cause a human can misshift and screw up a run but a auto wont.
But on the other hand the 6-speed is perfect for auto x/autocross control of gears but personally if i had a car that perfect i would want a manual. Just thought i would share with you guys.

k you people bad mouthing the auto Supra.....take one for a spin, that car will run circles around A LOT of cars. its not a cheaply built automatic like the majority are, this car does have balls. and actually jewbacca, supras only came in automatic for 96.
check some supra forums/sites, there are MANY auto supras handing camaros, mustangs, corvettes and so on and so forth their asses.
in all honesty, get a clue before you post something like this again. or learn to read up on the subject which you are talking about. perhaps both? thanks.

Watch the personal bashing...
The fact is people make to big of a deal out of Automatic Transmissions... They arent as bad as people make them out to be. Granted they might not be as "useful" as a Manual Transmission, I dont see why everyone anti-auto. Maybe some people prefer an automatic over a manual.. Hell even I do sometimes. If you dont want one, good for you. That doesnt make someone else that has one bad, or stupid for buying one.

Auto's can be fast, and if you want the ease of auto with the the spirit of a manual, spring for a tiptronic, it's just as much fun!
I personally prefer manual, but there's nothing wrong with auto.......there's an 8 second quick class neon that's auto:eek:
I've got some friends with Tiptronic VW Golf GTI's and those things are a blast........so, auto might not be for everybody, but it does work for some.

Nope. Still lacking intellect.
Just because its an automatic doesn't make it a bad car. If you would stop & think for a second you could see come logic in have an automatic. Like tightteg pointed out, less room for human error. And the reason people defend automatics its because they have been educated and understand the topic.

First of all, at what point did anyone other than you resort to childish name calling? Second, you are only mad because you were absolutely SCHOOLED on a subject you did not take the time to research before you dedicated an entire post to it, therefor your anger should be directed at yourself. Third, if you wish to post ignorant threads you will be told you are wrong... if you can't handle that do some quick research and maybe you wont come off so ignorant.. and the fact you said it would be ok only if she had been cute... so are you saying only ugly chicks can drive a stick? clarify yourself if you don't want to be bashed for ignorance otherwise deal with it.

wooohooo i got props for a change!!!!
Ok but seriously if i were biulding a 800 hp plusr i would want and aut ofor amny reasons.
1:keeps me from going through clutches left and right
2:keeps legs same size to hold that you need one hella strong clutch and thas a mutha to push in
3:consistent 1/4 times i dont want people telling me it was a fluke
4; 3 is possible cause no rrom for human error launching and auto is simple hold down break depress gas slightly light goes green realese brake and smash gas tell you come close to wheel spin in a high hp car.
5:easier to pimp if you dont ahve to worry about gears!
6:you my young friend have just been givin auto cars are cool 101!! and now i hope you learn sumthin and pass it on to the next little auto hater

Hahaha maturity!!!!!!!! Give me a standard, you can take auto. Same car/specs, i guarantee you I can beat you, drag or race. I think Ive done enough RESEARCH and gave it enough THOUGHT to figure that one out. Man, people are saying they like auto because it reduces human error. That is pathetic. wtf is this GARBAGE!!!!!! I have no faith in my own driving skills so I'll just let the machine drive for me and I will back up using automatic because I happen to drive one and I SURE can drive automatic alot better than standard. Oh I forgot one, the clutch doesnt make my LEG HURT in an AUTOMATIC. I lost a race, so first thing to do is make my engine better, never mind actually learning how to drive, that would just be rediculous. I would rather click in my button on my automatic stick shift, pull it down a few notches and press the thing that makes me move with my foot(I think its a gas petal, but i have to do more RESEARCH). Like the title of this thread, I am disgusted. Or maybe I just havent put enough thought into this post.

Probably not because had you bothered to ask most of the people who replied do in fact drive a manual( including myself.. but I must be ugly since I know how).. and were simply pointing out your lack of knowledge on a subject you dedicated a thread to, it's that simple. If you can't take constructive criticism that is your problem.. but the personal attacks and lack of knowledge you show by posting * Bite Me* and so on doesn't make anyone want to listen to you.. if you can present yourself in a well thought out manner and without rude comments maybe more people would listen to you.If you have anything else rude to say or anymore personal attacks do yourself a favor and take it to private messages.

if you miss gears, then you most likely wont win. but it all depends on driver error. and yes you may be an excellent driver, but its always possible to make mistakes while driving.
(I think its a gas petal, but i have to do more RESEARCH).
its actually a gas pedal.

Actually consistancy is important in some races, take bracket racing for example. You want to have very consistant times in bracket racing, this will give you some serious upper hand..
EX.
A car runs 17s consistantly in the quarter.. When it comes time to race a car that runs 10s it will get a 7 second head start. This leaves little room for driver error for the 10 second car. If he jumps a light or misses a shift hes just lost to a 17 second car. :paranoid:

i know this has been beaten with a stick, but if you actualy looked into the parts that you can upgrade an auto with like tq converters and stall launchers and al sorts of parts that actualy let you DRIVE the car like a manual you would see when it involves money for racing as a profession, or a hobby, you dont go and buy a manual because your too good for a auto or a auto because your a puss, you get the transmition you think you can be more consistant with. i dont care who you are, i goto the races at moroso motorsports park in west palm beach and there are quite a few mis-shifts in the PRO class, not just the street or the test and tune, but people who get paid to do this. my friend has a 300zx with a built automatic tranny, it pulls hard right upto redline and it snaps you back between gears, it dosnt chrip because its got 295 nitto nt-555r's in the back. a burnt clutch in a manual will kill your 1st to 2nd shift if you heat it to much durring a launch. im a die hard manual fan BTW but i cannot read this ignorance and let it just go unsettled. this post has turned all to hell, someone shut it down.

Outstanding comment. More to the point, my warmed over auto with a converter will boil the rubber in a 60mph downshift, so look out. :) I'll also never go 3-2 instead of 3-4 in a street race and punch the block out the hood. : pop :
Also, the fastest 1/4 cars are auto, because they're soo much more consistent. Granted, manual's have their place in autox and road racing, but don't diss the auto simply because you don't like them.
