Man, I hear ya on that one. I am very computer literate, but my computer is giving me so much trouble. I have to usually start IE twice, once it will crash. I have problems all the time. A couple of months ago, I formatted and started over, and I still have probs. Maybe something with the hardware.
Did you install anything that had to do with IE or the internet lately?

Were you forced to install their browser or other related software (besides setup stuff)?

do u have a bunch of junk apps running ? like pink gorillas, cats falling from the top of the screen ? Try emptying the cache and then try again. also there might be a registry error. try to download regvac from www.superwin.com (shareware) run it and see the results.

This is a good idea, but BACK UP YOUR REGISTRY FIRST! ;)

windows 95 and my defrag sucksit always freezes anyone know of a good aftermarket defrag!?
Racing Rice

Does it freeze at about 10 percent or so... Sometime defrag will take forever!! You just have to let it go DiskKeeper is a good aftermarket defragmenting tool..
The other part of your problem is Windows 95..

2k/XP you need one hell of a computer for it. for both of them you need at least 128 mb ram and 256mb reccomemded. also for 2k/xp you need a shit load of hdd space about 1 gig for ther install (compared to 400mb win98). your best bet will be WIN 98 SE wich requires only 64 mb Ram

What comps do you all have?
I'm runnin this system
P3 600mhz
384MB RAM PC-133
27 gig HD
Geforce 2 64mb /TV OUT
WinME is ok, so is 98. 2k/XP are the most stable. You can leave your comp on for ages and nothing will happen. trust me, it's worth the space.

Get RegCleaner from http://www.jv16.org/ . Its an amazing program. I use all the time at work & home. I've yet to see it mess up a regisrty on any machine. I've used it on Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, 2000 Pro, 2000 Advanced Server, NT 4.0 Terminal Server, NT 4.0 Server.
Try that. Then goto http://windowupdate.microsoft.com and get the latest updates, especially Internet Explorer 5.5 if you don't have it.

winxp won't run real well on your 500mhz box. and dont even try to open windows media player 7 or 8.
i had xp on my k6-2 550 and it was kinda sluggish. i swapped back to win2k (which btw does not need NEAR the system that xp does) and it flew once again.
