According to my maintanance manual, I should have replaced my spark plugs 10,000 miles ago. The dealer will do it during the major service, but you pay close to $300 for a bunch of ish that can either be done yourself, or done cheaper elsewhere. Anyways, since I'm gonna change plugs, should I invest in performance plugs, or wait until after i/h/e? Will they make a difference? Are they woth the money?

Also, can plugs be easily changed yourself, Or should I pay some guy to do it for me?

Change the plugs yourself if you have a torque wrench. The dealer will want about $30 labor to install them (I just asked). If you're not going to run stock plugs, I'd go with iridium's, but they'll run you around $50 or so for the set. Otherwise, just run NGK stock plugs.

Is it worth upgrading my Platinum spark plugs to Iridiums?

are there any kinds of noticable gains from iridiums, esp since my ride is still stock?

That has been debated for a long time. Some say yes, some say no, but I say just try it and see for yourself. $55 isn't too much, and they should last for a fairly long time. From what I've heard, they should help a little... I'll let you know after I put mine in tomorrow (though I can't drive hard b/c I will be breaking in a new clutch too).

i don't think you will notice anything unless you upgraded your fuel system like a new rail, and a new fpr. if u are still stock you might notice better threttle response not any other gains.

By throttle respose, do you mean that my ride will respond better to the gas pedal or downshift easier. I wouldnt mind if my tranny wasn't so hard to make downshift. Keep in mind I'm no longer manually shifting since yall say it'll powder my tranny.:o

What do you mean by a new rail and fpr? What will they do?

They will enhance your fuel delivery. Not really necessary unless you decide to seriously mod your car.

I just put them in. It eliminated the damn hesitation I've been getting at around 2k RPMs. I also just got my ACT clutch put in, so I had to drive like a granny. I feel like an amateur --since the clutch grabs close to the floor, I'm not used to driving it, and I really have to think about it.

After I put 3-500 miles on my car with the new clutch, I'll push it harder to see if I can notice a difference. The only thing I'm expecting is better throttle response though.

with your experience, would you recommend I pop the 60 bucks for iridiums?

I can't say for sure until I can break in my clutch and hammer on my car, but in my opinion, every little bit helps. What do you have to lose besides a couple of bucks? I'd go for it.

I think that plugs do help with more fuel...more fuel with a bigger spark with more o2 means more power!!
