I think mine is just the way it came.
speaking of windows is it a pain in the ass to update from one version to the next? reason I ask is I'm planning on buying a laptop and I don't know whether I should wait for it to be preloaded w/ vista or not.

I changed to a different wallpaper...but nothing special. I really don't care how it looks as long as it works.

Personally if you dont need it right away, wait the required time to get the full version. In my experience updates have often been problematic in nature.

I just use what came with my computer. It's easier that way.

i bought a program called style XP, and there's a website where people make all sorts of different themes, logon screens and other things you can download. But i'm too lazy to show you guys the theme i'm using right now.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking. just upgrading from one version of office to another caused problems.

i used style xp for awhile until I did some reading and testing. you dont even need style xp to apply non-standard style. There is a Uxtheme.dll hack you can do to allow you to use whatever theme you want. link:

This also means one less thing running in the background.

I use classic windows, with no background image just a dark gray screen. Boring yes, but that stuff just slows machines down more. :D

I switched to the classic windows look again. I seem to cycle through what I think looks good.
The classic look loads faster and seems to leave more room for actual working.

I agree. I've tried to like several themes that I think look cool, but ultimately I always come back to classic windows. A good place to look for good looking themes is DeviantArt. I've found several that are very cool, but for some reason just not right for me.
The only thing I change on the Classic theme is the color. I like Rainy Day.
