oil pressure sensor

so i put a new oil pressure sensor in my moms jeep becauase the old one was leaking. now when i turn it on the gauge jumps all the way up to 80 (the max) and doesnt go down.. what could my problem be?

thats what i have been thinkin. but i cant see it just shorting now.

first step is to unplug the wire. go from there

The oil pressure sending unit is a common culprit. The correct thing to do here is put a manual gauge on it and see what the pressure really is but the sensors are pretty cheap and easy to replace so I usually just swap it for a new one.

That light tells you your car is having a heart attack. Hopefully it's just a sensor but you need to stop driving
